can you move a tank one space into a unoccupied country, and then move it back to the country you attacked from and call it blitzing?

Yes: A tank can "blitz" by moving through an unoccupied hostile territory as the first part of a move THAT CAN END IN A FRIENDLY or hostile territory (emphasis mine).

One of the gotchas of doing a blitz, is that any facilities such an an Air Base, IC, or Naval Base, will block it, so if a tank enters a territory that contains any one of these things, it has to end its turn in that space.

I had a strategy of building a naval base on Midway and basing my fleet there for a while.Â It has some advantages on paper - very difficult to block, Bombers launched from there can attack Tokyo factories or support a landing in Japan, plus all your planes on the carriers and such can support landings as well.

In practice, it’s never worked very well.Â Japan tends to ignore the fleet and focus southward, or Germany takes advantage of the USA’s pacific focus to wreak havoc on Russia.

I have tried a similar tactic where I base my navy in sz 8 with airbase and navy base at aleution island. I have similar experinces, but the problem might be you start beeing agreesive too early with the USA

For clarity -

A Blitz is defined as a combat movement where a tank or mech/tank pairing enters an unoccupied enemy territory, captures it, and moves to a second territory as a single combat move.

Any other movement of two spaces, whether during combat or noncombat, is NOT a Blitz and should not be called a Blitz. It’s either a combat move or a noncombat move, but not a Blitz.

This is important because Mech Inf can always move two spaces as a combat or noncombat move, provided it’s not a Blitz. Calling such moves “Blitzes” implies that Mech can only move two spaces with a tank under every circumstance, and that is NOT the case.

I think the Italian fleet is there to replicate the attack on Taranto. It is like, why is France there, if only to be killed by the Germans. Or why have a British fleet, if it will be mostly sunk. However, there are two subs in the area that can attempt to sink the carrier and destroyer, but it might fail, and the might leave you with more British ships alive by England, and that is not good.
I am playing the game on Saturday, so I’ll post my opinions afterwards.
