Just wondering if I can attack out of a contested zone or if I am stuck there?
Welcome to the boards Lord Cohliani.
That sounds like the going rate. It is a big board and a little pricey. Don’t go spending five hours of your life searching every corner of the web to save yourself five dollars on the two. Your time is worth something. Go ahead and get it from a reputable source.
Have fun with this monster! On the bigger board there are many more decisions to be made.
Neat idea about strategy talks only between rounds. My groyp is all over the place in experience. We usually play Revised as a team game because Global is a two day affair. I will impliment this.
Something we do is allow texting. Sometimes I even text the opposing team. Something like ‘shucks he left Okinawa empty’ is occasionally enough to goad them into making a bad move.
With five players this is such a social game of convincing folks something is a threat when it isnt
If you have the AA guns around do you have the white complexes from one of the old games?
I disagree with it unless you think the allies are underpowered. Letting England choose where to spend all of its IPCs makes Sealion more difficult then the capture of India more difficult for example. If you have a new British player it could be a bone to throw him.
This would be similar to making the French Navy and land units roll to see how many side with the Germans after France falls. As rolling for Vichy helps the Axis.
There are alternate set-ups available on the Larry Harris message board. The last Alpha.1 was pretty “pro-London” if I recall and still a decently balanced game (at America’s expense). Featured more early battles with the Brits and Italians in particular.
I agree.
Also give them general strategy advice and the occasional warning if their capitol is going to fall.
I have texted my team mates plenty during games. Replaced the smoke break strategy sessions everyone used to take back in the day.
Dont bang your head against the wall attempting to find exactly which panzer divisions were where in May 1940 or whatever. Liberties are taken in the name of gameplay.
Think of the lack of Russian planes as a representation of how poor use Russian Generals got out of their planes.
To be numerically correct on the eastern front the Germans wouldnt stand a chance with equal players. 1941 Russia suffered greatly from the purges and from……well the France problem, having the right equipment but not knowing how to use it in battle.
