guest, are you playing the standard rules or Russia Restricted(RR) which gives the Axis a little better chance(since USSR doesn’t get a chance to sink the German sub and trn in the Baltic sea zone[Bal sz], nor the chance to eliminate 1 fighter[ftr] and more by attacking Fin/Nor, Ukr or EEu.)
RR basically eliminates USSR’s first turn Combat Movement and Combat.
Tech rolls, Purchase new units, Noncombat movement and Placement are the only activities allowed on R1(Russia turn 1.)
Coordination is important. Remember, for example, if planning against Germany, that Allied forces move or build in the following order(UK, US and R.)
A simple example is…
In UK1,
UK builds an ac(carrier) and a trn(transport) in the purchase units phase…
places ac & trn in the UK sz during theplacement phase…
Later, in US1,
during the Noncombat movement phase US flies 1 ftr from WUS and 1 ftr from EUS to UK sz to land on the UK ca,
and transports 2 inf via US trn to the UK territory.
So that on G2(Germany’s turn 2), the Luftwaffe faces a combined force of 1 UK ca, 1 UK trn, 1 US trn and 2 US ftrs. If Germany chooses to attack with a maximum of 5 ftrs and 1 bmr(bomber) he may win. However, the estimated loss of 3 ftrs will do more to hurt Germany than the loss of 1 ca, 2 trn and 2 ftr will hurt the UK and US.
