    • RE: London or Cairo after Moscow?

Starting to build tanks with Russian ICs for eventual march on Cairo, but once he shifted his very large fleet of 7CVs + 12 fighters and other support ships to Malta, he was out of range to get back to a weakly held London. Built a large fleet of transports and shifted entire air force west and managed to take London on my next move. It’s questionable whether I will hold, but he will be putting his fleet within range of my air force when he moves to try to take it back. Eventually I feel I’ll have a chance to take it again and hold it.

Also, thanks for pointing out I should have only been sending three, maybe four bombers, rather than five. I’m used to the original games where a 2 was not added to the die roll.

    • London or Cairo after Moscow?

Once Moscow falls, what’s the best way forward typically? Friendly game I’m in now, the US has 6 inf, 1 mech, 1 art, and 1 tank in Gibraltar and is slowly building up Atlantic fleet after focusing on Pacific most of the time. UK is fairly strong, but has few units in London at this point. Japan still holds territory in China and SE Asia, but most of its land units on the mainland have been decimated. It is not under immediate threat of invasion, but doesn’t have the ability to attack much.

I’m planning to strategic bomb London with 5 or so bombers each turn (have another 5 in reserve), while trying to build an invasion force for London. He is rebuilding in India and has a minor IC in Cairo, and I feel like it would take me too long to get to Cairo from Russian ICs before he could reinforce significantly. Italy has no navy or any offensive firepower to help around Cairo, and is at some risk of being invaded. It’s my sense that I need to rebuild offensive units around Germany and France to protect them and hopefully have an opportunity at some point to use them to hit London. Thoughts?

    • Aircraft Retreating from a Destroyed Carrier

Had an interesting situation arise in which German naval units in the SZ just north of Algeria attacked an Allied fleet in the SZ bordering Algeria to the West. The Germans were simultaneously launching an amphibious assault on Allied-occupied Algeria. An Allied carrier carrying two fighters was destroyed in the naval battle in the SZ west of Algeria. This battle was rolled prior to the Algeria battle, and the only safe place for the Allied fighters to retreat to after the destruction of the carrier would have been Algeria. I assume that the Allied fighters would have to wait until the conclusion of the amphibious assault in Algeria to determine whether or not they could retreat there? Thanks.

    • RE: Central Illinois Players

If Robbie is still up for it, we have 5 at this point. There is an excellent spot in Champaign to play, and I also know one in Bloomington. I am up for playing at either spot but since you guys are traveling let me know which you would prefer.

    • RE: Central Illinois Players

I know I could get one more. If no one else replies on here after a bit then I could potentially get another. I’ll PM you if I find someone. Also I’ve never been to Dragon’s Table, but there is a cool new place called Titan Games that has a large play area with nice tables/nice environment.

    • Movement Question Regarding Tournament Rules

Haven’t played many games of WWI yet, but had a movement question regarding the tournament rules. They state that units can now move two spaces, unless they are entering a contested or hostile territory. That does not preclude a player from moving from a friendly territory, into a second friendly territory, and then into a hostile territory two spaces away does it?

    • British Pacific Opening Moves

I’ve been trying to settle on opening moves with the British and trying different things as of late and wanted to get opinions.

A few of the questions I’ve been struggling with are:

      1. Do I use the India transport/infantry to attack Borneo or reinforce Africa?  If not, and I leave the British infantry in India for defense, is it just best to evacuate the carrier and transport to the west (possibly picking up inf from Per/T-J to reinforce Africa)?
      2. What’s the best use of the India fighter?  I have used the fighter that starts on the carrier to hit the German BB and transport with the bomber from London.  Although there is a fair chance I could lose both units, it is nice not to have to worry about the Germans reinforcing Africa.  If not, I have sometimes used the carrier/ftr to rendezvous with the Australian sub/transport en route to a reinforcement of Africa with Australian infantry.  I have also used it to reinforce the American carrier at Pearl Harbor.  I have never really been sold on a heavy defense of India, so I would prefer to do something with the ftr rather then leave it there for defense.

      Thanks for the help.
