      @coachofmany:

      We are finalizing our dates and Hotel and have it narrowed to 2 Hotels and 3 weekends of May of 2014 in Tulsa, OK
      Please vote for the 2 weekends that will best work for you.
      This will help make our decision but not be a absolute depending on the polling.
      Thank you.
      Coach

      Any weekend works good for me so long as I got notice!  I’m in FOR SURE!  Quick drive from Houston, and I’ll have a plus one join me from Dallas at least.

      AWESOME!

      @knp7765:

      I was just wondering about the “heavy infantry” in the Expansion set. What will they be? Is it like the guy with the Panzerfaust in the Axis Minors sets?

      We are still working on that, we have a Paratrooper in first set, SNLF with light machine gun in Amerika, thinking about Infantry with rifle in second with soft hat or Heavy Machine gun.

      I’d like to see an Imperial Guard unit for the third.  That way you get a marine, airborne, and elite infantry.

      I know you guys are working on the new set but do you have any early teaser shots to show us?   😄

      WOW!  We’re all here for you Jeremy.  Whatever we can do to help, let us know.  Maybe more pre-orders to secure some capital?  I for one trust you to throw in my share towards the end result - ESPECIALLY if you’re using either the same factory or one equally as good as HBG is - they seem to be on the ball for them and a proven record of delivery and quality as expected.  Luck of the draw I suppose when dealing with specialty manufacturers.

      Keep us posted on what you need and what you expect - we’re with you 100%!

      Also being of original MB A&A age, I agree that we have waited YEARS for this kind of thing, so I will ALWAYS support with 100% of my available efforts (and funds) the efforts of FMG and HBG both.

      Hang in there Jeremy - sorry to hear they almost “sunk” you.  Were you able to get to the nearest Naval base to repair the damage to yourself during your non-combat move??  😄

      Bicycles & Sidecars - hilarious!!!  That would be cool.  😄

      I guess from a scale standpoint, I consider those as regular infantry (Berlin to the Rhine in one move).  And I agree with Tall Paul, many may wonderful thanks to all the folks at HBG - they make this game WAY COOLER than it already was - no matter what pieces come out I buy them.

      @Tall:

      …Not to mention the HUGE parachutes on their backs. Just check out these guys.

      “Tall Paul”

      Another idea to help us all Paul is this (ESPECIALLY if you’re painting anyway like we are/will)…

      Assuming the SNLF vs Army uniform statement by DrLarsen below is correct…

      @DrLarsen:

      The thing is with sculpting SNLF is that there was almost no difference in their combat uniform versus the army: usually just a different symbol on the helmet if I remember correctly…

      …then you could use Fimo to sculpt an added-on parachute prior to painting on some of the SNLF troops.  My grandma used Fimo when I was a kid to completely sculpt a replacement Japanese (curious coincidence) infantry that a dog chewed from my original game - you could hardly tell the difference!!

      I may try that to make Tieshin Shudan paratroopers!!  😄

      PS - Fimo (for those unfamiliar) is a clay-like substance they sell at most major craft stores - comes in many colors, adheres easily to plastic, AND takes paint well!

      @Tall:

      “Coach”,

      While I truly congratulate you on your magnificent plans for Japanese sets,…

      I couldn’t help but notice that you didn’t include a Paratrooper unit.  Three complete sets and no Paratrooper???  I believe they’d add another dimension to our games and would be a worthwhile unit for inclusion.  After all, if we don’t get Paratroopers for ALL of the countries, my “Screamin’ Eagles” will be out of work.
      Thanks for your time and consideration.

      “Tall Paul”

      I gotta agree with Tall Paul on this one.  I mean, maybe they weren’t used and maybe they were (based on the discussion between him and knp) - either way, it’s related to a technology used by most players (part of the series) and that’s part of the dynamic of PLAYING the game - CHANGING what was done in history based on YOUR strategy with production and resources.

      There is sufficient evidence to point to the historical existence of paratroopers for every major power on the board (except China) whether they were ever deployed in combat or not!  It’s also a matter of game balance - you can’t very well give them to US only without seriously tipping the balance in their favor for longer range actions.

      My rules call for it being a technology owned by US/UK/Germany and available for everyone else by die roll/technology.

      Now, I know we could easily use another regular sculpt painted or whatever, and if the decision’s made - then that’s what I’ll do and I won’t cry one bit, but it’d be cool if we had them.  Obviously, in the game Japan never had much opportunity for tech development anyway and if they did there are many other techs that would benefit them much more!!

    • RE: Canadian roundels

      @Omega1759:

      The Canadian IPCs having to be spent in North America would add a dose of realism to the game, probably one of the easy / most material change I can think about.

      The IPC value is a bit low at 7, that should be increased to something like 10 to compensate (and why not an industrial complex on the Pacific coast to give option to go Pacific).

      I added 1 IPC to the Yukon to total 8 IPCs base for Canada.  With NO points, it could add, and also the way I do my neutrals helps in this regard.  I have a 3 IPC bonus that all countries get (except China) UNTIL they decide to invade a true neutral, at which point they lose that bonus forever.  I call it WORLD TRADE BONUS and it represents trade with neutrals all over the world.  Because of this, Canada gets 11 each turn in my game (unless they decide to invade Spain or something outside the box OR get NO points to increase).

    • RE: Canadian roundels

      @Vance:

      So would you just have Canada be a separate power, but they can choose to “give” their IPCs to London?  If London falls they collect for territories in North America (and Brazil?) but can only mobilize in Quebec?

      No Canada is completely a separate power - IPCs are not shared with London and if London falls, it means nothing for the Canadians (except they better load up on Vaseline)…LOL.

      London’s IPCs are tied to only those in the west that it directly controls down to Rhodesia.  South Africa is a 3 IPC Minor Ally in my game (IPCs are separate and production is separate - all gains go towards the UK however - SA is ALWAYS 3 IPCs).

      Of course, SEAC (India, etc) is also completely separate.

      The only thing that is tied together among all Commonwealth nations is that they MAY move together in unison (provided those same units were not moved on the same turn already).  In other words, Canadian troops may board, and be moved by UK transports as long as they’ve not moved already on their own, and vice versa.

      It’s pretty clean and it works well, AND I think it’s historically accurate (units of all the Commonwealth typically did work together - Canadians under UK & US command at Normandy, Australian-Royal navy joint task forces, etc).

    • RE: Neutral Negotiations (Updated)

      @Vance:

      @Gargantua:

      That or you create specific conditions for each country.

      Or make it dependant, not just on the IPC value of the territory, but the size of it’s standing army.

      Turkey 2+8 (for 8 inf) + die roll effect + 5 for the chance to roll - surrounding territory.

      That gets expensive…  but works in a pinch!

      So even if you roll 8 (worst case scenario), you can turn Turkey pro-your side and the other strict neutrals remain strict neutral for 25$?  DEAL!!  The 8 infantry alone are worth $24 and you get the easy road into Caucasus or Balkans.  Spain would be another good deal for USA.

      How about a bid system?  You pay $5 for the chance to shmooze the diplomats of the strict neutral country.  You then roll a dice and if you get 3 or less the auction starts.  Your side and the opposing side bid the number of IPCs they are willing to spend on “foreign aid” to turn the strict neutral pro-their side.  The side that bids the highest surrenders that many IPCs.  They can decide amongst themselves exactly how many IPCs each power will donate to the cause.  The strict neutral then becomes pro-whichever side won the auction and can be activated.

      The auction idea is intriguing…I’d say mostly realistic too.  And necessary to prevent Germany on G1 from buying off Turkey right off the bat!

      Yeah…all good points.  I hadn’t done the math yet…

      Maybe the FIVE plus is the way to go.  You spent five TRYING to get them to buy into you, and then had to invest something to win their love permanently.

      Actually…kind of sounds like marriage…hahahahaa!  😛

    • RE: Neutral Negotiations (Updated)

      @Imperious:

      Being adjacent to each Neutral by way of conquest or starting that way should get a modifier of -1 or -2 IPC for each adjacent area that you pay. So if your adjacent to three areas from the conversion attempt you get -3 IPC ( or more) on paying the cost.

      Like this idea…also, I think I would make it where you first pay 5 IPCs…period.  THEN, based on the dice rolled you can choose to “invest” the rest or leave having spent the “attempt” of 5 IPCs.  If you move forward, the 5 IPCs is applied towards the rolled balance due to fulfill the obligations to the neutral.  Seems like a “Diplomatic Effort” cost followed up with the “Foreign Investment” to sway them.  If you back out of the negotiations after the 5 IPCs you can NEVER attempt to sway that neutral again.

      What’s y’all’s take on that idea??

    • RE: Neutral Negotiations (Updated)

      @Gargantua:

      Maybe the more territories you have surrounding a neutral, the more easy/difficult it is to sway?

      For example… I’m sure Turkey would be much more interested in considering offers from the Axis, if the entirety of their nation was surrounded by the forces of fascism.

      Or if the USA has conquered parts of south america, that will make the other parts more likely to consider offers from America.

      For territories that have “NO” value,  just set a standard negotiation value of 2 IPC’s.

      True dat…

      @Cow:

      wow allies are decentralized enough as it is to have canada lol.

      In my house rules, all Commonwealth units may act in complete coordination (removing the decentralization except for industrial reasons).  In my mind, that historically makes sense.  German U-Boats made getting raw materials from Canada into the UK virtually impossible.  Now Canada can produce DDs and transports and materiel slowly and move it over under escort and US assist once the US is active.

      You can easily add Canada using HBG’s Canadian roundel tokens and either some painted British pieces or eventually HBG & FMG’s Canadian pieces.  FMG even makes Canadian dice now too.

      I’ve added Canada and played it that way (taking the 8 IPCs from UK) and it makes things a bit interesting sometimes.  Play them right after the UK & SEAC/India in order.

      So there is no intellectual property patent for the Axis and Allies franchise? I find that hard to believe.

      There is…it just doesn’t cover stuff they didn’t “invent,” and/or stuff that can be determined to be commonly available, widely used, or stuff that existed prior to them inhabiting the Earth. 🙂

      Terms such as Air Force and Infantry and Sea Zone and dice are completely unprotected because WOTC doesn’t own them.  The term IPC or Industrial Production Certificate they DID invent.

      That’s my take on it anyway.  I’m no attorney but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night! 😄

      Thank you sir!  Moving’s a BEE-YATCH!

      If Hell is what someone’s worst fears and frustrations are, mine would be driving in stand-still traffic in 100 & stupid degree and 78% Houston humidity on the way to WAL-MART, so I can pick up something to help me MOVE from a three story apartment complex while I wait on the mortgage company to finish my damn loan paperwork which they’re over a WEEK past scheduled closing…oh wait, that was last June!

      Hahaha!  Good luck brother - I anxiously await your return.
