I saw your post sitting so long I registered to give you a few pointers on maps. Most if not all the WotC map packs are themed in some way. Originally they were 2" hexes but were changed some time ago. The map packs you mentioned are themed as follows: North Africa - 3 Desert maps and on reverse side 3 jungle maps. Eastern Front - 3 town/factory maps and on the reverse side 3 Russian steppes maps. There are two starters, the one in the cardboard box is the old one and contains 12mm mini’s and 2" hex maps. the new starter is in a blister pack and has 15mm mini’s and 3" hex maps. The maps in the new starter are mixed forest/hills/clear. The rules and revised cards are downloadable through the WotC site.

Its that same as if an adjacent soldiers trys to enter your soldiers hex.  You can take your DF shpt at him in his starting hex or his dest hex.  Same is true of a tank…

Honestly, I have definitely been looking for something like this.  But I’m not sure if you’re talking about the same thing as me; could you possibly provide a link that shows the finished product?

You should ask them for Photo Quality Heavy Stock paper. It usually costs a bit extra, but definitely worth it. Using regular glossy paper just defeats the purpose of printing them as the colors bleed and even the regular glossy paper is not durable enough.

The same hex is neither front nor rear. Currently this only matters for one unit, the Archer, since otherwise it would be able to fire in the same hex.

Superior Camoflauge prevents you from targetting a sniper in cover, but if there is another legal target (in this case the PG), then you can simply target it and then blast hits everything else in the square.  This is somewhat like firing at a transport, where you can’t target the unit being transported - but blast will still hit it.

if your going to print out some of the other maps.  such as these http://24.150.163.38/pasalades/  then make sure you just don’t print them on 11x17. or else your maps will be smaller than the ones that come with the starter set.  be sure to change the settings and make the actual print image size 16x10.5  that way you can match them all up and it will look really good.

~ side note.  be sure to tape the back of the map when putting them together with some blue masking tape.  it is made to peel away without ripping anything and i’ve been using it now for 6 months and my maps still look new

Here are the d-fire rules…

Just keep it simple…  when you move a unit… from one hex to another… if both those hexes are adjacent to an enemy unit, then that enemy unit can try to disrupt you.

Adjacent means same hex or bordering hex.

In some cases, you are forced to use defensive fire while the moving enemy unit is in a particular hex.  For instance, if an enemy tank tries to move out of a hex containing one of your soldiers, if you choose to use defensive fire, you would likely have to do so while the tank is in the first hex (your hex).  That’s because once the tank is in the next hex (one hex away), most soldiers attack value at Range 1 can’t result in enough successes to match the defense of the tank to disrupt it.

Provoking Defensive Fire: A unit provokes defensive fire when it moves from one hex adjacent to an enemy unit into another hex adjacent to that same enemy unit. The hex a unit is in counts as adjacent to that unit.

Soldiers and Vehicles: Soldiers don’t provoke defensive fire from Vehicles. They can move around an enemy tank or even enter its hex without getting shot at by that Vehicle. Soldiers can exploit enemy Vehicles’ blind spots to move safely around them, but enemy Soldiers see them just fine.

Defensive-Fire Limit: A given unit can make only one defensive-fire attack per phase. For example, a US bazooka team fires defensively against a German tank in the Axis player’s movement phase, but when a second German tank moves into the bazooka team’s hex in the same movement phase, the bazooka team can’t use defensive fire—it’s already fired defensively this phase. During the Axis player’s assault phase, the bazooka team will be able to use defensive fire again.

Optional Defensive Fire: You aren’t required to use your defensive fire if you don’t want to. For example, if your opponent moves a weak unit to provoke defensive fire from one of your units, you can choose to “hold your fire” and let the weak unit pass in order to be able to use defensive fire against a more dangerous enemy moving later in the phase.

Multiple Defensive Fire: If more than one unit has the option to take defensive fire, you can make one unit’s attack before deciding whether the other units also attack.
