Thanks for the great reply! I am hoping to add decals to each as well, so thanks for that tip too. Sounds like I definitely do need to do a bit more homework on this before I get started. I want to do it right!

A little bit of an update on the table. It’s coming along well, withe the fist part being complete. The custom made legs and the drawers are complete, and we have the bottom frame complete. The table is currently free standing, and we will need to build and add the top pieces next. I have taken some pictures and will probably wait to post them until I have a complete product. Looking good!

Thanks all for the advice, I ended up starting again from scratch. Anyone whose played Twilight Imperium would be familiar with the race sheets with all the documentation right there. I will post some updates hopefully soon.

Dude… you have got to check out HBGs new Global War series. I am just finding out a lot about this myself. The Global War 1936-1945 game is supposed to be released next month.

This gets into almost all the stuff you just mentioned. The games are going to start in 1850 and move all the way up through 2025. The board is huge (bigger than G40) and full of more intricate elements including the possibility for the CSA. I think your game may already be here.

––This thread shows how the Shipyard was made by Ebard re-designing his Dry Dock, adding a large wharf area, adding a second crane, several warehouses, storerooms, and supplies to the dock area including some pics of the finished painted units. Enjoy, and ask any other questions you might have.
––It Also shows his Small Naval Base and Air Base (straight) units.
