  • send an anzac fighter to malya, and keep a sub in the ANZAC one with the port, you can hit the sea zones around the east indies pretty good to mop up after UK

    Have a US destroyer in the Midway Seazone at all times, that way they cant run transports to hawaii from japan


  • ALWAYS make sure u have a warship escorting destroyers…obvious rule but VERY importaint AND make sure u fighter planes at all ur bases…scrambling is an art that should always be painted


  • Did you have that backwards?  Did you mean to recommend having a Destroyer escort all warships?  Certainly you need to have something escort transports of enemy air or subs will pick them off.  I really think folks will come to want more subs.  In a sea battle, subs are the best cannon fodder, especially in the attack.  But I digress . . . Send Subs to bolster the Aussies by sending them to New Zealand first and then to Aussie coast.  This could help amplify protection of Austrailia by delaying any invasion.  I bolster most strategic places with lots of infantry since it is very hard for the Japanese to build a large number of transports to support a large amphib landing.  When I have a fleet where there is both naval and airbases, I send the planes to land on the island.  This way, if an enemy attack comes, I can decide how many planes to scramble, and what types to use.  This also allows me to use one hit on a carrier without losing the planes.  I am also looking at invading Alaska as the Japanese, but I haven’t done it yet.


  • I bomb the crap out of an airfield to prevent cramble when invading an island. It helps because your enemy is not sure how many fighters to sned to intercept because he may need them for the naval battle, and at the same time if I disable the airfield he wont be able to scramble at all.

    If you bomb the airbase it doesnt prevent scrambling at all on that current turn (not round).  So if US bombed say the caroline airbase at the same time as attacking the sea zone even if the bombers cause max damage to the airbase all jap ftrs can still scramble to defend the sea zone.    Now if the UK or ANZAC were to attack after the US damaged it then Japan cant scramble.  Just making sure you arent saying you can bomb an airbase to keep ftrs from scrambling on the same (e.g. Jap or US) turn.

  • I tried letting the ANZAC grab 2/3rds of the East Indies (Java and Celestes) and let the British take Sumatra.  This allowed me to make ANZAC into a very serious sub threat to the Japanese.  Load the area with Aussie subs and the occasional Destroyer and you can effectively seal off the area from any amphib assault.  Also, putting a AB on Celestes put the whole coast into bombing range.


  • Not really a ‘trick’, but inexperienced players seem to miss some crucial sea zone connections around Australia. It’s amazing how quickly the US can get into the DEI through that route.

    If you at the Aussie naval base you can hit almost all of the DEI as well as PI and can even land in Burma (!) in one turn! It’s things like that that Allied players miss that give th Japanese a bigger advantage. Once you see those, it’s MUCH harder on Japan IMO.
