  • Can you clarify scramble defense for me?

    I did an internal dice roller setup with two bombers (for Russian factory), two tactical bombers (for Russian airfield), and three fighters as escort, but the the dice results didn’t make a lot of sense.

    -I scrambled all three of your jets.
    -It rolled 6 dice for the defender, so I’m guessing any scrambled plane gets one shot at every attacking plane?  Would one scrambled defensive plane get 6 shots?
    -It rolled three dice for the attacker, all of which hit, but only two planes died, then it had three planes of mine die.

    Or I am misreading how that works, and every attacking plane gets a shot at the scrambled defenders, and each scrambled defensive plane gets one shot total?

    I’m going to playtest it a bit more (I didn’t save it prior to the scramble, so I have to redo my turn to test different number of planes), but in case I get an answer here before I figure it out…

  • Alright - I figured it out; first time confused me because I sent three fighters as escort, three fighters scrambling in defense, and while the game stopped on “attacker fires” and showed three 1s, that was apparently defensive fire.

    Combat moves made, scramble orders?

    My G6 completion is attached; TripleA is giving me an error code 302: Failed to login to forum when I try posting, or auto-posting all of a sudden.

    I logged out here and back in, and re-entered my information on TripleA to no success.  Any ideas?

  • After it pops that error message, my choices are “Roll again” or “Exit” which closes TripleA.

    I tried the one under it and got a "Couldn’t connect to server error too.

    Three choices:

    1.  Pause our game until TripleA works again.
    2.  Schedule us to go live on TripleA online if its even working right now?  I’m not sure what time zone or country you’re in or how that might work - I’m in EST in the US; but I have tomorrow off, and most of the weekend.
    3.  Use the internal dice roller.

    Here’s my upload for Option #3; if you’d like to do something different, let me know.  I’m struggling for my life in here, I just realized the value of submarines for embargo, and as I’ve said - the value of this game to me isn’t in winning, but in learning so that I don’t look like a putz next Friday in our real game and make the same kind of terrible rookie mistakes I’m making in this game here.

    I just realized that my german subs have been sitting around doing nothing the entire game, when at the very least they should have been blockading the UK and making you have to buy destroyers.

  • Hopefully that’s a solid J7.

    I’ve been learning.  Time to working those subs and making you build destroyers.  I also realized you could destroy another factory, so dropped another blocker in the Philippines to keep you away from FIC.  I couldn’t block Malaya, so I had to make a lesser attack on Yunnan, which puts me off India for another turn or two, but at least it’ll be costly if you try for Malaya now.  I learned my lesson on the first destroyed factory.  Or the third. =p

    What am I missing here?  I did the battle calculator on Yunnan, which is why I moved what I did there - and China had a 0% chance of winning.  Not even 1%, just straight 0%.  How did China win that?

    I assumed a scramble in SZ92, lost both my subs, didn’t kill your destroyer. :(  Didn’t realize there was a destroyer there - its hiding under the graphic for the navy and airbase. ><

    Take a look at the dice rolls.  I’ve made some mistakes in this game, but I think that was my worst dice round so far.  Russians defended 2/2 infantry dice rolls in 2/3 of my attacks, UK scored 3/3 hits against my airstrike in Persia.

    That really hurt.

    I’m looking - I don’t see anything I could have done about it.  Germany couldn’t take it even without a scramble.  What would you have done about the fleet there?

    You got really lucky with some rolls, so im not sure if this puts me in a bad situation at some fronts but the combats went as planned for the most part.

    Battle calculator had you coming out at -87 in FIC, and you came out +22. 
    Battle calculator had you coming out at +21 in SZ112 and you ended up +52.
    China had a clean sweep.
    UK Pacific had you at +4 in NW Persia, and you came out at -10.  But since you only sent planes with one mech, that’s one dice difference, which isn’t anomalous.
    Iraq had you at +35, and you came out at +45.

    Everywhere else looks like you pretty much came out median expectation, which has been reflective of the game as a whole so far.

    So…you pretty much outperformed average everywhere on dice rolls.  Where do you think I got lucky that is going to give you hard choices?


  • Uh…not to mention that the US has Norway now, I have nothing around to try wedging you out, and that’s the only European wedge that the US needs to be in the war in a big way.

    -I didn’t get into Russia, and that opportunity is gone.
    -China is about to sweep the asian continent.
    -The US has its European Theater Secure
    -UK just kicked Axis out of the middle east
    -Allies own the Pacific.
    -I messed up my India push and didn’t get it.

    Conventional wisdom says that by Turn 6-7, the Axis needs to be on par with the Allies for production to have a chance at winning - I’m down by a chunk, and its going to get worse over the next several turns.  I’m pretty sure that the game is over and we’re going through the motions at this point, but if you see something that I’m not, speak up.
