This would stop the very irritating habit of moderators posting a personal, heated opinion and then locking out any counter arguments.  Just reading this thread I know I’m not the only person irritated by that too common occurrence that frequents these boards.

Funny, isn’t that what congress does on a daily basis?

    • Rune Blade's Games Back on the Web!

Hello all. I want to give a special thanks to elbowsanchez for putting my game pictures out on his server. I have been unable to post these pictures since my web provider went OOB. Anyway, here are the games that I have created:

      Axis of Evil
The United States and the European Union are attacked by the new Russian Federation, China, and the International Islamic Alliance in a new global war.

      http://66.125.84.108/web1/runeblade/Axis_s.jpg

      The Balkans (1999)
The US and NATO invade Serbia to end the ethic cleansing in Kosovo. NATO invades into Kosovo while the US conducts an amphibous landing in Montenegro. Russia joins sides with Serbia.

      http://66.125.84.108/web1/runeblade/Balkans_s.jpg

      The Cuban Missile Crisis
President Kennedy gives the green light for the invasion of Cuba.

      http://66.125.84.108/web1/runeblade/Cuba_s.jpg

      Desert Storm
The US and the UN take on Iraq, Russia and China in this global variant.

      http://66.125.84.108/web1/runeblade/DesertStorm_s.jpg

      Opertion Downfall - 1946
A hypothical battle if the US had to invade mainland Japan in the second part of Operation Downfall in Operation Coronet.

      http://66.125.84.108/web1/runeblade/Downfall_s.jpg

      Iran War
The US and NATO attack Iran in the near future to end that country’s nuclear ambitions.

      http://66.125.84.108/web1/runeblade/Iran_s.jpg

      Operation: Iraqi Freedom
Re-fight the war as either the Coalition or Iraqi generals. No politicians, no restrictions. Fight the war to win!

      http://66.125.84.108/web1/runeblade/IraqiFreedom_s.jpg

      Operation Market Garden
Refight this famous battle to try to turn the tide of history. (Please note that the map is now GRAY and not YELLOW.)

      http://66.125.84.108/web1/runeblade/Market_s.jpg

      Operation Sealion
My personal favorite! Set up like D-Day, the German 6th, 9th, and 16th armies must push into Britian and capture London.

      http://66.125.84.108/web1/runeblade/Sealion_s.jpg

      The Second Korean War
The Korean penninsula erupts in conflict again. The game pits the US, South Korea, North Korea, and China in the desperate fight for dominance. The war has the potential to spill over into a Chinese invasion of Taiwan as well as becoming nuclear.

      http://66.125.84.108/web1/runeblade/SecondKoreanWar_s.jpg

      Vietnam Conflict
Instead of fighting a status quo war in Vietnam, the US president authorizes an invasion of North Vietnam! Fight the war in a whole new level! The US and South Vietnam take on the Viet Cong, North Vietnam, and China.

      http://66.125.84.108/web1/runeblade/Vietnam_s.jpg

      World War III
The USSR and China blindside NATO and the US in a new global war. Will the Allies be able to fight back?

      http://66.125.84.108/web1/runeblade/WWIII_s.jpg

I sell these games if any are interested. You can contact me at runeblademaps@hotmail.com and I will give you price as well as shipping cost.

Yes, it wasn’t easy.  There were two city battles that were the result of luck and kept me going or I would have been defeated as America must hold 13 cities.

Fortunetaly, I was able to destroy the bombers for both the Soviet and Central Americans and that caused their attacks to be much less effective. Then I was able to wear them down by constantly retreating.

      It was awesome!

Oh also, maximise use of the giant friggen lazer beams.

Yeah, that’s what I meant by destroy the Soviet’s bomber squadron.  I had my opponent out of Bombers and was forcing him to fight me one-on-one in the cities of Pittsburgh, Cinncinnati, etc.  I could have won the dang game that I played except I my stupid forces couldn’t capture a city that was occupied by one infantry.  Gaaaaaa.  Still can’t claim a win with America, but I know the strategy now.

I WOULD LOVE TO PLAY THIS GAME THROUGH EMAIL OR FORUM IF ANYONE CAN GET IT.

OKAY back to the topic at hand.  Fortress America.  I bought this sucker off ebay and love it.  Even better than Axis and Allies.  I have finally figured out how to win with America!

Kill Russian bombers.  Fall back and force them to fight you one zone against one zone.
Delay the best you can the Central Americans so you can divert forces behind them.  Same strategy, force them to fight you one zone against one zone.
Stay one zone ahead of the Asians and continually retreat so they can’t use the helicopter jump where they can take an extra zone.  You can delay them up to 10 turns.  Fight back once you retreat back to Minneapolis.

PS.  Jen, your pics get hotter and hotter!!!  Damn Girl!  :-o

Does anyone know why British fighters cost 12 IPCs while everyone else’s cost 10?  Is this a typo or is this suppose to be like this?

    • RE: Gears of War

I have to agree with balungaloaf.  I also thought the game was too short.  One of the biggest drawbacks is the gameplay.  When you want your character to run or take cover behind walls, there is about a one to two second delay.  THAT IS FREAKING DEADLY.  Especially with the last boss of the game.  Took me over two hours to defeat him as I kept getting killed as my character refused to duck on time and got mowed down continuously.

Here are the two variants I have made and am currently selling concerning Vietnam and Korea.

      http://axisandallies.metalsaber.com/vietnam.jpg

      http://axisandallies.metalsaber.com/SecondKoreanWar.jpg

My Vietnam scenario takes place in 1969 and is a hypothetical “what if” scenario dealing with a US invasion of North Vietnam to force Hanoi to sue for peace.  The game takes place in North and South Vietnam, The boarder zones of Cambodia and Laos, and China.  The players are the Viet Cong, North Vietnam, South Vietnam, The US, and China.

My Korean war scenario deals with a Second Korean War in 2009.  China, the US, South Korea, and North Korea are involved for the domination of the Korean penninsula.

You are correct.  I had done it before.  Unfortunetaly, the map was too big.  So I made it a standard 20 inch by 30 inch map.  Since I sell these on ebay, I needed to be able to get it laminated  :-D.

I am almost done with it.  Just need to get a few more things together.

Cyan,  I have seen the X-Day program on the History Channel.  Unfortunetaly, it mostly talks about the invasion of Kyushu in Operation: Olympic.

    • Operation: Downfall - 1946

      Greetings all,

I am in the process of finishing a new game called: Operation: Downfall - 1946. This new scenario tackles the US military’s plans to invade Imperial Japan in March 1946 on the Tokyo Plain. The Objective: Capture Tokyo!

Based off of the historical plan Operation: Coronet, the United States would launch the largest amphibious assault the world had ever seen in their efforts to force Japan to sue for peace. Operation Downfall came in two parts. The first, Operation: Olympic, focused on capturing the southern third of Japan’s southernmost island named Kyushu. US military planners expected Kyushu to be heavily defended by some of the most experienced troops the Imperial Japanese had fielded to this point in the war. Olympic would be commanded by Douglas MacArthur and would have been launched inNovember 1945. The objective would be to seize the southern part of island to establish needed airfields in the comming invasion of Tokyo itself, Operation: Coronet.

This scenario takes place in March 1946. Operation Olympic has achieved its primary objective. Despite heavy casualties, the US is prepared for its final push into the Japanese Heartland. However, in Japan, the Japanese High Command has already guessed as to the location of where the US would land its amphibious forces and have already started to build fortified areas on the beach and also in and around Tokyo itself. In addition, thousands of hidden aircraft would be used in Ketsu-Go, the massive suicide attack on the US’s fleet ships and transport carriers. While Japan knows it cannot win the war, it can raise the cost of victory to a level that America would not be willing to accept and thus could possibly force an armistance that would save face for Japan.

This game is developed in the style of Axis and Allies: D-Day. There are 18 Order cards and 18 Fortune cards. Theater events are obtained differently in this game. America obtains theater events by capturing objectives. Japan obtains theater events by killing every 10 Allied units.

There are two American players and one (or two) Japanese players.

The United States also has a navy wich will assist in attacking objectives as well as defening the invasion forces from Kamakazi attacks. Fighters on aircraft carriers can be used to patrol their sea zones and can be used to attack Kamakazi dice before they are rolled.

Japan will be able to deliver Kamakazi attacks in an attempt to cripple America’s invasion forces before they even reach the beaches. Each Kamakzi wave (6 waves total) will consist of 6 dice. The Japanese player can choose which sea zone(s) and invasion fleets it wants to attack. Each die must roll a two or less against a target unit (Ships or invasion units) and that unit will be destroyed.

Cities and fortifications will add defensive value for Japanese infantry units.

Here are some screen pics for this new game.
