If I have a lone submarine submarine that attacks a lone battleship and I get a 1 and hit, does the first strike apply? As in, does the battleship die in one hit, or is it just like a normal hit and it takes one more to destroy it?

Battleships always take two hits before sinking, even when hit by a sub.
