2007 AAMC AAR Lieutenant's Tournament - Signups Open!!!

@ponef The season 14 tournament already started several months back: https://forums.triplea-game.org/topic/1364/revised-tournament-of-champions-toc-14-st-nazaire-raiders. I think season 15 will be posted in the next few months as that one winds down.

Parings are going to be rolled shortly, but there will be 3 open slots for late registrants…

The reason they are rated low, for me, is as follows:

1)  Submarines are expensive
2)  Submarines die to fighters without risk to the fighters
3)  Submarines purchased take 4 full turns to break even (odds?)
4)  The two submarines in SZ 5 die in every game I’ve ever seen.  It’s just a debate over when, not if they die.
5)  Germany has no business buying up lots of submarines.
6)  America is relatively unaffected by U-Boats.  Sure, they have less money, but honestly, -3 IPC from 42 IPC is not that much.

Those are ranked in order of importance to me.

That said, if you get them as a random bonus, it isn’t horrible.  Germany, of course, has no worthless advantages.

A few more Q:s though, regarding FTF Tournament formats…

You usually play in teams consisting of 2 persons? And if the team loses, both people are eliminated from the Tournament? I thought five persons played the game, and only

What if no side has lost the game after 4 hours?? (should be fairly common)

What the h**l does Single Elimination stand for ?    :?    (English is not my native tongue)

As an example, AAR starts at 8:00 a.m. By 10 pm you are burned out. And you may still be playing. This is why 2 team members are needed. You will be at a disadvantage playing solo.

Yes, it is one loss oan out at Gen Con Indy. Swiss at WBC, which means you will play 3 games.

After 4 hours, you add IPC totals + VC points, and that causes a winner.

Damn.  I knew it as soon as I entered it, but had to get in the shower (was still almost late for work typing that this morning).  Figured SOMEONE would ahve slammed me for it today :-D

And I still like the “logic” of not being able to blast away Parisian INF from the Normandy Coast; or Chicago National Guard Units from the Virginia coast…

Yeah, that is kinda wonky.  But no more so than some of the other abstractions the game makes.

I’m looking forward to getting this IPC shot in my veins…

The remaining fleet off Kwang is a nuisance to Japan, and requires that they do something about it… and with 2 rolls of 3’s, it has to be a fairly substantial something (at least 1 BB plus some air power or other navy).

There is no difference between a UK fleet near India or a UK fleet near Kwang when I play J…
their defending roll is still the same and both will perish someday…
Only nuissance they give?
you have to pay attention that no trannie goes unguarded…
but you always have to keep the latter in mind :-P
