Who will be CA governor in 2004(a 60 day question)?

  • @TG:

Would’ve like RR to run (most qualified of the bunch),…didn’t he drop out to support Ah-nold?

Bill Simon is more of a traditional conservative and Ah-nold more of a moderate conservative. :)

    Teej,
You are kerrekt on 2 out of 3 points(Simon & Simon NOT Ahnold as exemplified by his appointment of Warren Buffet as economic advisor.)

Oh, and The Padre(Father Guido Sarducci), Don Novello was disqualified…

Also heard a taped interview of Gary Coleman on the Sean Hannity Radio Show. He could not recall who the USVP was. He said he was thinking about other stuff and couldn’t come up with the answer(any time during the intrview. When asked what his political policies were, he stated “I’m not interested in politics.” Then why the fock is he running for governor?!!? Oh, yeah! A newspaper put up the money for him to run in order to make the recall look like a circus. I think they could have saved their money, except that I’m sure they have full access to Coleman, and focused on the porn star, pornographer…

Smooth move for Ahnold to get Warren Buffet(the second richest guy in the world) on his Econ Advisory team. Might Mr. Buffet use the economy of the state of Caulifornia to become the richest man in the world?? If he puts his money in the right place and sinks the state he’d make out like a bandit. Heh-heh!

  • Arnold has it. That much media attention means he can’t be beat, unless he decides to “not hear” more tough questions. Though I’d love Larry Flynt to win. He’s a serious candidate, and would do good things for the state.

Bill Simon has it if Arnold doesn’t. People know his name.

Huh, I recall a quite different Gary Coleman…

And I am impressed that he got Warren Buffet to become his senior economic adviser. Looks like the Terminator is pulling out all the stops.

    Teej,
(CORRECTION)You are kerrekt on 2 out of 3 points(Simon & Simon NOT Ahnold as exemplified by his appointment of Warren Buffet[a liberal] as economic advisor .)

Leno looks to boost his ratings on or after September 22, 2003 by having every California gubernatoral candidate who wishes to sit in the Tonight Show audience. He’ll probably give them 1-2 minutes to have their say, depending on how many takers there are.

I’d say Bustamante, McClintock, Schwarzenegger and Simon are no shows. Larry Flynt and Ms. Huffington are not likely to appear either, since they like to be the center of attention.

From the article it looks like Gary Coleman is gonna be there. I’ll put $100 even money on “Mary Carey,” the porn star, as an affirmative as well.

Anyone want to vote for Arianna Huffington after learning she’s paid so little taxes lately. She’s been living off her investments.

She made her millions by marrying and divorcing Michael Huffington. Then she complains about the fat cats not paying their share of taxes and swindling the working people. Har-de-har!

Yes, I heard of the story of Huffington not paying any income tax for the past two years and only $700 in federal taxes, however, this remains to be proven if it is true or not.

  • She turned in her financial statement as part of running for CA governor. Though with the results we know she is not serious about being CA’s governor. She only wants to get her anti-SUV and anti-corporate types rhetoric.

  • She seem’s to be campaigning for the “downtrodden” but I see her just as another fat cat, myself. :-?

  • The Democrats only chance if the recall happens would have been Feinstein, but she didnt throw her hat into the ring, so its likely going to be Schwarzzenegger. The last polls I saw had him in a commanding lead, and it looks like the recall will happen.

  • Recall, yeah. 67-69% want the recall in polls of likely voters.

Feinstein…why on earth would she give up a power position for a pain in the butt position? For the good of the Party? Faah!

J1, don’t you think Bustamante & fellow Dems can pull the faithful together? He could pull 40% and win easy. I think Ahnold’s #s will drop because he will not be specific enough.

  • Of course it could happen, but the Dems are so split lately on candidates, I dont think it will. Not to mention that Schwarzenegger is not your typical conservative. Its hard to give him a political label, hes defined as a conservative, but hes very liberal on a number of issues, so he might pull liberal support.

  • Word to all none Californians, we’re not real big fans of Buztamante here, probably less so than Gray Davis…

  • Schwarzenegger it is then.

But, now Buffet, the Terminator’s Econ Advisor, is saying property taxes are too low. That will lose Ahnold the property owners’ votes. Well, Bob Hope is dead so he’ll vote Democrat. Barbara Streisand will vote Dem until her property slides into the Pacific. So I guess it will be no worse for Ahnold.

  • Buffet, the Terminator’s Econ Advisor, is saying property taxes are too low

Wow, I didn’t know someone so smart could also be so stupid.

  • It’s offical… I just heard about it on the radio, Ah-nold is such an idiot. At first I was okay with Buffet (a Demo) being Ah-nold’s economic advisor, because I thought he would give small buisness in California a real shot in the arm.

However, now he’s going after property taxes, saying that their not high enough! What a lot of crap, CA has some of the highest property taxes in the whole of the Union (not to mention the most expensive real estate) and we have Prop 13 because of it. If what Buffet is saying is correct, then my taxes for property tax go from $6,000 to $15,000! That’s absolutely ridiculous!

Anyways, unless Buffet retracts his statement, I’m not going to vote for Ah-nold. Screw that, I’ll go for someone else. And so will the fact that the whole of California gave Ah-nold a real backlash when Buffet announced it.

  • If what Buffet is saying is correct, then my taxes for property tax go from $6,000 to $15,000! That’s absolutely ridiculous!

:o :o It certainly is ridiculous! I think $6000 is too much, but then again, I’ve never owned any real estate and certainly none in CA, so maybe I just see big numbers and freak out. :)

  • Yeah, especially since housing cost are so high in CA.

  • Raising taxes may just be the solution here. Cutting costs could work, but your going to be cutting some major things unless you find some way to increase revenues. To do that you need to bring business back to California, but how do you do that? Do you attract big business or provide some way to encourage small business to grow? I vote small businesses, for they have more growth potential.

Of course you’ll never get a politician to say what I just said. Theres only one that will talk straight, and he didn’t run for reelection.

  • Property taxes go to local governments here. Are they a state tax in CA?

I thought maybe Ahnold was looking for a way to shoot himself in the foot when he picked Buffet. I think I was right.

And Drudge had on his website that Ahnold now has liberal Democrat Rob Lowe collecting celebrity $ for Ahnold’s campaign. How long can this Circusfornia go on? Another 7 and 1/2 weeks.

California had the largest budget surplus in history before GD took over, now it’s 35 billion in debt. To raise taxes on the citizen (because of the new projects, special interest groups, and project overlays) is something I call irresponsible. :-? And what small bsiness do you want set up in a state with one of the highest income taxes and that you want to raise taxes again on?

    Yes.

  • Teej, leave a little kcrap under your last post?

Schwarzennegger(22%) is second to Buster(25%) in what seems to be a second rate poll. The California Field Poll has a 5% margin of error…

What the H-E-double toothpicks!! Show me a civilization that taxed it’s way to prosperity and I’ll have you commited('cause there’s never been one!

Yeah, cut health care to illegal immigrants. That’d save 1/2 billion a year. Cutting state covered benefits for union non-government employees(heard about that Grayout Davis payoff earlier this week) would save another 1/2 billion a year. Let’s see… since the California debt is figured at 38.2 billion for the next 2 years… multiply 1/2 billion + 1/2 billion(savings mentioned above) times(x) 2… and we’ve saved the people of the state of California 2 billion dollars(low estimate, because then illegal immigrants wouldn’t be coming to California so quickly[compounded annually…WOW!.])

Yes, small businesses are the backbone of our economy. Big businesses(100 or more employees) employ less than 10% of American workers. Small businesses are what it takes to become big businesses(Wal-Mart, Mickey D’s, Ford, IBM…shall I go on?).
