Will any of you miss complaining about the BCS system? I’m a hard core playoff fan, I would like to see at least eight teams playoff. But I will miss the discussions that the BCS brought. :-o

I was against the BCS and I’m against a playoff. If you want playoffs watch the NFL. The BCS did what it was supposed to do very well create a way for number one to play number two within the bowl system. The biggest problem with it is the human voters were allowed to game the system and at least crown a somewhat less mythical national champion than what came before which was entirely a vote.

This selection committee is going to be way worse than the human polls. Hopefully the Sooners and 'Noles will have taken a bit of sheen off the SEC but I don’t see any season where a one loss SEC team that couldn’t win the conference gets in over one loss conference champions from other conferences.

We haven’t eliminated the arguments. Just created new ones.

Actually, the telecoms never broke the law. They may freely give the Government, or anyone else, any information about you they want. The Privacy Act does not apply. In fact, as long as they can claim they did not profit from the information they gave the FBI/Homeland Security, they are completely immune.

I reference the case where consumers attempted to sue Jet Blue for giving away their information (including Social Security numbers, addresses, telephone numbers, demographics like number of children, race, etc) to the FBI. The judge ruled that yes, Jet Blue did give away personal information without permission, however, there was no law forbidding Jet Blue from freely giving away that information. And, since the Federal Government did not take that information by force (they politely asked for it) they did NOT need a warrant to get the information.

So giving the Telecoms protection for giving away information for free (the same info they probably sell to private companies and individuals btw) is just stopping frivolous lawsuits and stop the waste of federal money through wasted time and expense for a case that cannot be won, due to precedent being set with the Jet Blue Case.

Remember, the Privacy Act does not apply to everything. Only very specific industries in very specific circumstances with very specific information. Everything else can be handed out like candy. Furthermore, no where in the Constitution does it state that citizens have a right to privacy. It’s implied, but not enforced nor expressly written. You have a right to protection against illegal search and seizure, but you were not illegally searched, you gave the telecoms this information freely, and it was not seized, the telecoms gave it away.

Jan__, I believe Saddam’s last two approval ratings(taken at election time, therefore, equaling his vote percentages were 99.6%(1995, I think) and 99.9%(2000, I think.) Interestingly enough, immediately after both elections, 0.4%(1995) and 0.1%(2000) of the voters shot themselves in the back of their heads. There has been some idle speculation due to the fact that when these #s are added together they equal 100.0% for both elections. No complete cross-referencing has been done to verify that all these distraught voters did not support Saddam. There has been some support for the idea that these unfortunate voters were upset that Saddam did not get unanamous approval.

Well I think that Merchants, Labourers, and Soldiers need glorification to be successful, Scientists and Artists are driven to do what they do, so unfortunately, do not require near as much praise for thier efforts.

I don’t know if glorify is the correct term, but I do believe that Scholars and educators deserve the greatest reward.

Although Engineers should have some mention
