Sub sinks BB before it hits…

is that true?  i would think you would have to have two sub surprise strikes hit in order to sink the battleship.  i would think it would go, sub hits and the hit is absorbed by the bat.  then the airstrike hits and the second hit sinks the battleship but it is allowed counterfire…?  am i wrong?
