Germany started by pummeling the Royal Navy, but suffered disproportional losses in Luftwaffe. The fall of France was also at great expense leaving the Wehrmacht with just two tanks in France, plus the infantry and artillery left in Normandy. Germany also seized Finland and Bulgaria and did a ‘one-round’ attack on Yugoslavia with units from Southern Germany and one infantry from Romania in order to get that Southern German stack into Romania (two infantry lost). British troops now stand in Yugoslavia (seemed the most logical allied troops to put there) but it is still uncontrolled. Germany takes 68 IPC’s (38 board, 10 NO’s, 19 from France, 1 spare). Germany places a tac bomber and 6 infantry. Incidentally, Germany is out of subs.
The Soviets took Korea with three infantry and stacked everything else in the east on Sakha. A fighter and tac bomber also head east. Northern Iran is also taken with one infantry and the troop disposition on the Soviet western front changed somewhat. Stalin takes 40 IPC and places 6 infantry, a tac bomber, an artillery and a mech infantry.
Then it’s Japans turn, Japan buys three transports and a mech inf. Japan enters China and takes maximum territories there, also retakes Korea, takes Amur and French Indochina. Japan moves its fleet into position (two task forces) and its planes also, probably for a major J2 assault. Japan seizes 34 IPC.
The British empire reels from the loss of its ‘next to Britain’ fleet units, all but one transport are gone. Britain buys a few new ships and decides to attack the western Italian fleet with a fighter, tac bomber, destroyer and cruiser. The carrier joins the French units to pick up the surviving planes as the Italian fleet goes down without much of a bang. British units take Italian Ethiopia and Britain sends its lonely transport west to Canada to go pick up Quebecan units. The others come east to join in the seazone where the new British boats are placed. Oh, and the RAF demolished a German battleship and cruiser by rolling three ‘3s’ in the first roll. Did admiral Räder not like that. Germany is all out. Britain now has 41 IPC’s.
Meanwhile in the Pacific theatre, the Indians buy a destroyer, a mech inf and an artillery and reopen the Burma road defeating the lone Japanese unit there. Sumatra and Java are occupied, Kiangsu liberated and the fleet rearranged to meet the coming Japanese threat. It looks like India (as I will refer to UK Pacific) wants to try to slow Japan down as much as they can. India picks up 24 IPC’s which they will need.
India’s friends from Australia and New Zealand buy a submarine and a mech inf. They land on the eastern half of New Guinea probably hoping to get their bonus next round. The planes move west and ANZAC picks up 13 IPC.
Italy buys a destroyer to bolster up its remaining fleet, takes Kenya, Alexandria and Yugoslavia and also takes control of southern France. 17 IPC’s for Mussolini.
The USA makes a pacific fleet buy, with two capital ships, switches around the pacific transports which now leave Hawaii stacked with 3 infantry, a tank, three fighters, three tac bombers and the Phillipines bomber. A destroyer is also placed in the Hawaii seazone to prevent the Japanese from getting crazy ideas and supporting those with shots on land. But in all likelyhood, the Japanese Solomon forces that could land on Hawaii are not enough to win. There are only two infantry and just four Japanese planes could back up an assault. Brazil turns US friendly and US moves up to 54 IPCs and expects to have a bonus next round and able to land stuff in Africa.
China buys two artillery and an extra infantry but fail to take Hunnan but do destroy the lone Japanese infantry there. Allies seem to try and pick off every small Japanese force in their reach. Hit and run tactics by the allies? China ends the turn with 16 IPC’s thanks to the bonus.
Since France saw its cash plundered by the ‘black hordes from the east’ they can do nothing but rearrange a few units here and there. The French fleet moves towards Egypt and its last destroyer also heads in that direction. Three infantry now stack Algeria awaiting Yankee reinforcement.
