Yeah, it was a fun game. Though, Cairo being such a close fight goes to show just how ludicrously strong the Brits are.
I’m just shocked at what the Allies managed to take back.

@barnee Japan might have a tricky time conquering it if it’s on the far side of India.
@imperious-leader
We were going off the idea that bunkers are cheaper than inf and damage is automatically repaired at the end of turn if the attack fails.
@gen-manstein
Japan will need a lot to go his way in order to recover.
@GEN-MANSTEIN Looking solid!
Not gonna lie, this could work on a practical level.
@baron-Münchhausen One of the main reasons why people have not been buying battleships is that cruisers are just better for the price. The fact that they move one more space than any other naval unit is huge. They are much better economically since you get more dice power per IPC spent than you do on a battleship. Yes a battleship can take two hits, but you have to pay to repair. I would much rather have two cruisers and pay a small amount extra than 1 battleship.
Historically, this makes sense. Battleships were on the way out in terms of being the central feature of the modern battlefleet. Carriers were taking over.
@SS-GEN Question: If the SPA rolls a 2 or less, does the attacker get to choose the tank hit, or does the defender choose which tank is hit?
@SS-GEN
Really digging the paint job. Great work!
@SS-GEN
Slight correction, Moscow fell turn 5.
Thanks Greg for another awesome year for Axis & Allies at Gencon! Your efforts and the efforts of your colleagues have done wonders for this community.
Any new folks in SE WI or Northern IL? I know a few already but right now I am trying to find folks I have yet to meet.
@Young:
What about Orgins?… it’s sooner, so anyone going to that?
Origins does not take place at what I would consider the most ideal time for me to travel. On top of that, it is a longer drive for me than Gencon.
I am heading to Gencon 2017 in Indianapolis. Skipped last year but I am coming back now. Anyone else attending?
@Young:
It’s gonna be strange not seeing the name Ryan Davison etched as champion in a long line of title wins.
Ya, but I can still safely say that I won every in-person tournament that I have participated in for global :)
Sadly, I won’t be attending this year. I plan on getting together a large group of my friends for next year and saving up money to get a nearby hotel instead of one 20 minutes away. I won’t be there to defend my title this year but I will be ready for 2017.
I advise getting there Wednesday to get your badges on Will Call to avoid the lines on Thursday unless you had them mailed to you. On game days, I advise getting there by 7am or earlier because the parking garages fill up fast. If you wait until 8 or 9am, you might be forced to park several blocks away unless you get lucky.
Also, if you haven’t already, get tickets for the tournament qualifier for Thursday and Friday in the event that you miss the time due to traffic/lines or you don’t win your qualifier on Thursday but still want to stay in.
Why would anyone NOT do the Taranto raid? What’s the alternative benefit from using that fleet elsewhere that can compensate for leaving Italy with opportunities to contest Africa and the ME?
Preserves your fleet for later use, makes yourself a constant threat to italy. Also helps to deal with Sealion Threat and gives you a better attack on tobruk.
