    • Aircraft carrier question

Here’s the situation.  I have 2 loaded AC’s at seas port.  The planes are going into a land battle 3 spaces away and must land in water next to land.  The AC’s will stay until non combat move for declared landing spot.  If 2 planes get shot down, Can one of the carriers move to a different sea zone or must it go there even though no planes are there to pick up?

    • RE: Grasshopper's G40 Card Deck (video added)

I ordered these cards too.  ArtsCow said they shipped on Aug 2.  Hopefully get here soon.  Have a big game on Sunday.  Would love to use them.

      Thanks again

    • RE: Bidding

One rule I forgot to mention that was talked about is that you may only put 1 extra unit in a territory and that the territory has a unit in it.

The French example given before is not allowed.  Basically if the allies got 21 IPC, USSR can grab 7 infantry.  BUT, they have to them in 7 different territories with units already in them.

Units only (no Factory’s or bases).  Also limited to areas where there are units already.

    • Bidding

      Hello all,
Playing some new people this coming weekend and they were talking about playing with bids for 1940.  What is the process and some quick strategies that people have used?

      Thanks in advance….

    • RE: Turn 1 Operation Barbarossa

I would much rather have Japan attack Russia on turn 1 from the back side and start taking away IPC’s.  Germany go in turn 4 after they build up enough fodder to go in.  By that time Japan is on the back door of Moscow at the same time Germany is at the front door.

You can build up enough troops and tanks to threaten sealion on turn 4 as well.  If USA fortifies UK, take those troops north to Archangel.  Russia now dealing with 3 legitimate fronts.

    • RE: IPad app for IPC tracking

I was thinking the same thing about using it for all the games.  Web app would be cool to.  It maybe better.  Then any device can use it.  I was thinking along the lines of the interface being the same as the board.  make you finger move the button to whatever IPC value.

      VERY BASIC.

      Thanks,

    • RE: IPad app for IPC tracking

I know that several games we’ve played, the tracker always gets knocked and you have to reset it.

Is it a novelty?  Yes.  Does the novelty have merit?  Yes in deed.  90% of all the apps are things you don’t need but like to have.

    • IPad app for IPC tracking

I was wondering if there were any iPad developers out there would want to give a crack at this.  I know I’d be willing to pay to get this on my iPad.  Maybe make different trackers for all the A&A games?

      Any thoughts?

    • 1942 2nd Ed. map for download?

I was wondering if anyone had the Second Edition map for download yet?  Wanted to print out a larger version for our game table.

      Thanks,

    • Destroyer Rules question…

Can a destroyer and a transport ignore an enemy sub sitting on the coast when doing an amphib assault?

    • RE: Convoy and Kamikaze symbols ?

HistoricalBoardGaming.com had suggested using old transports from the original game and painting them white and putting them on the convoy spots.  Still looking for Kamikaze markers.

      Bump for a sticky…

I made 3 copies and laminated each one for use at our game day yesterday.  Worked perfectly.  Many compliments on them.

      Thanks again,

    • RE: Game Day Feb 26th in North Haven, CT

Still space available for gaming this coming Sunday.  We’re a short drive from NYC.  We have people coming from the Boston area as well.  We should have about 25 people people playing all types of games.  Mostly Axis and Allies of course.

We will have a minimum of 3-4 Global games setup at once.

    • RE: Fortress Moscow

This is the way Russia survives.  Trade space for time.  Draw the Germans into Russia while the US attacks on the west.  Germany can’t fight both fronts if the Allies work together.  The minute they have there own agenda, the Allies are sunk.

    • RE: Are these latest changes the last?

What changes to the board are going to be done?  I haven’t seen anything on Larry Harris’s site to suggest a change.  Unless you are talking about make the seazones the same color, making the convoy and kamakazi zones readable.  Stuff like that.

    • RE: Whats your favourite SURPRISE move?

One of my favorites is buying a Russian bomber turn 1 and using it if the Italians leave all their transports unescorted.  That bomber will reach all the way down and land in Cyprus.

    • RE: Any Massachusetts players?

Not near Amston Lake.  That’s in Marlborough, CT.  We play in East Hartford.  We generally try to start early on Sunday morning (9am) and will play until we feel the game is over.  Generally we don’t continue games on a following day.

      Sending you a PM.

    • RE: Operation Sealion Question

      @jim010:

Rule set has everything to do with it.  Success rates are highest with Alpha 2 and early alpha 3.  I’m thinking you don’t understand how Sealon works.  It cannot be prevented.  All UK can do is bring the odds down.

I’m not saying that UK can prevent it.  I guess my real point is, that if Germany concentrates on Sealion in the first 3 turns, the Axis WILL lose the game.  They cannot put that many forces in UK without having the Russian player do something about it.  Plus bringing US into the War early is HUGE.

If the ultimate goal is to WIN the game, sealion is not a smart move early in the game.

I would love to play face to face with someone who uses it.  I really want to see it work.

And NO, I’m not playing online.  Bugs my eyes out.  😮

    • RE: Operation Sealion Question

Personally, I don’t think it matters which rule set.  Doing Sealion the way most of the people have described does not seem like the Axis will last if you have competent Allies players involved.

    • RE: Operation Sealion Question

How many times have you done Sealion and the Axis have won the game?  Unless the Allied players are totally inept, I can’t see how they could win.  I guess this is my true point.

This is just a fun poll.

I’ve been reading some doozies online here and just trying figure out how the Allied players even allow Germany to attempt Sealion, let alone succeed in it.

These are awesome.  I printed them out on regular paper from my office color laser printer.  Looked great. Laminated and ready for game play on the 26th of Feb.

      Thanks a bunch.
