RE: [House Rules] Should allies receive a bid?
What does that mean? Should they receive a bid?

RE: C-47 Skytrains
The Li-2 is an exact copy of the DC-3/C-47 except for the turret built under license in WW2. If you remove the turret, at this scale you have a C-47.

RE: HBG Requests Input on New Pieces
I would guess he has the post WWII pieces to go along with HBG’s Amerika game which happens as if WWII never ended. Also note that some players are playing Global 1936 into the Korean and Cold War eras.

RE: Global Gaming Table
Wow that woodburning is top notch! I have other skillsets pertaining to my hobbies, but that is certainly not one of them. I am very impressed with this.

RE: Painted playing pieces
“painted playing pieces” are just that, decals are way out of scale, not the emblem the plastic of the decal itself is too nasty on minis this size. These paint jobs are amazing!

RE: How to create magnetic carrier based planes
I don’t care for the look of the magnets on the carrier decks, an alternative would be to drill a hole in the carriers with a pin vise, then glue a section of thin stiff wire in the hole sticking out. Next drill holes in the bottom of your planes, stick the peg in the hole etc….they stick to the decks without such a change in the look of either piece. Also I use the same wire for stands to make my aircraft fly. As soon as I hit my post minimum there will be pics lol

RE: Fed Up With This So Deleted
How reasonable of a price are we talking? That looks like a very nice printout!

RE: Tip for Cleaning Paint off A & A Game Pieces
Super Clean, the purple degreaser also works quite well for stripping acrylic paints, about a day or two soak and then use a stiff toothbrush under hot water to clean up the piece. It is also effective to soak the new parts in for an hour or two to clean off any mold release or oil from your fingers before painting.

RE: Cruiser add on
I have been working on something that may help balance any abilities you give to cruisers . A way to add more of a “capital” ship into the game, so I have bought blue, black, and orange counters (same kind as stock white and red ones) and plan on using them to mark hits on capital ships, orange being fire (dive bomb/ kamikaze) and blue being water (torpedo bomber). I have bought several new units from HBG to depict the different aircraft, but being largely a historian I find the loss of a battleship or carrier during one roll kind of odd. I know you have the option to tilt the piece for a second hit? But what about if you mark the ship with a hit or two and then put a black marker for smoke? Now while you are limping the ship to port for repairs attacking battleships can fire from longer range instead of attacking within the same sea zone. This in effect would make any rules to cruisers balanced because they can be sunk in a round of combat. Whereas if capital ships BB and CV’s are sunk in shallow water areas they can be raised as well. Now your poor man’s BB pales in comparison because it won’t have the capability to take multiple hits and long range engagements. As for balance the very fact that when crippled movement shall be one space and the smoke allowing for long range engagement should even things out. I don’t mind adding miniature elements to the game because it only enhances play. What do you guys think?

RE: AA 50 Game Map
Thank you for the replies, I am also trying to put in my 15 posts so I can post pictures on here as well, so If I post in a wrong section or something please let me know. It is difficult coming up with 15 new topics to talk about that haven’t been addressed yet. If I can sell any of my painted pieces or custom pieces I will ultimately buy another map. I have also thought about painting the blue background onto plywood and either free hand drawing, then painting the map, or using my better half’s cricut to make the continents out of vinyl to stick on the plywood.

AA 50 Game Map
Why did the anniversary edition’s map come in several pieces? Im not a collector and could give a rip about resale value and love playing my AA50, but it is frustrating at times when the board gets shifted during play. Is it worth trying to get a sign shop reprint it in one piece? Or should I just print out a custom map at this point?

RE: How Are You Using Your (HBG/FMG/Table Tactics/Other) Battle Pieces?
I didn’t see this mentioned, but an exception to the twin engine fighters would have to be the P-51 mustangs, they carried drop tanks allowing a range of 1600+ miles while the P-38 had a range of only 1300. I think the twin engine fighter/bomber planes are best used in an expanded tactical role to include use as torpedo planes, heavy fighters , night fighters to simulate the U.K.'s night time bombing campaign over the Germans.
