@panther This is indeed the recommendation I’ve followed. Forgot to mention I’m testing with low luck dice.

Balancing AAZ 1942
AAZ 1942 seems wildly unbalanced.
So far in playtesting increasing the territory value of Germany to 16 IPCs and Japan to 12 IPCs is feeling much better.
I’m playtesting without zombie technology, without ‘desperate measures’ effects, and only shuffling the zombie deck once the deck is exhausted, in order to limit randomness and keep testing more consistent.
Setup same as AAZ manual page 5 except:
United States
Western United States 2 infantry, 1AAA, 1 Fighter, Industrial Complex
Hawaiian Islands 1 infantry, 1 Fighter
Sea Zone 11 1 Destroyer, 2 Transport
Sea Zone 19 1 Cruiser
Sea Zone 53 1 Aircraft Carrier, 1 Fighter, 1 Destroyer, 1 Submarine
Sea Zone 56 1 Battleship, 1 Destroyer, 1 Transport -
RE: AAZ: House Rule - Tech Acquired through Combat?
Or maybe noting zombie kills per nation and for every X number of kills tech is achieved.

AAZ: House Rule - Tech Acquired through Combat?
My first impression playing the game is that the tech implementation doesn’t feel right (surprise, surprise right?)
I don’t mind the little bonuses on the cards, I think I could take or leave them, but I’m thinking a better way to handle acquiring tech would be by rewarding players for taking out mobs of zombies. Makes sense that the more you fight zombies the more you discover about them.
I suggest zombie tech is acquired only if a player kills 5+ zombies in a single battle.
Players that want of need tech can take out a mob and are guaranteed a reward.

RE: Grasshopper’s Dice & Cards (A&A Gaming Accessories)
makeplayingcards.com pricing for european customers seems insanely high (37 euros plus shipping per deck). Would it be possible to post the image files for your decks someplace?

RE: [AA50] Map Overlays - Splitting Australia, the Balkans, and Sea Zones; adding Cairo, Malaya, Singapore, Rio, Cape Town, Recruitment Centers and tons more!
Nice work, I was thinking the Anniversary map needed some updating here and there.

RE: Paint markers to better define borders?
Here’s another pic in dimmer light, which is a better comparison to the before picture above.
The silver pops nicely. Before, in the same lighting situation, I couldn’t see most of the border lines at all.
I used the Edding 5300 silver acrylic paint marker with a 1-2 mm tip
The silver seems to really catch what little light there is in the room.As the paint the marker ran low of paint it was harder and harder to control, so I reccomend just stopping and using a fresh paint marker if this happens. A few of the last lines I did are fatter than I would like because of this.
But the overal result is a huge improvement. -
RE: Allow suicide missions!
@superbattleshipyamato - when allowing suicide missions I think Russia needs additional help, so you could give Russia a bid or, just thinking outside the box, doing something like giving UK jet power could work too. That would make UK more self-reliant in India and they could land a few fighters in Russia to help in a big battle.
-
RE: Allow suicide missions!
Maybe giving the UK jet power at the start would be enough to balance it.
-
RE: The Chainsaw Tank, kept forgetting to use it…
Maybe custom roundel under the unit as a reminder, or better yet a 3D printed model.
-
RE: Allow suicide missions!
When I was younger we pretty much always played this way. Basically it meant more sneak attacks were possible (which makes the game more interesting), and large key battles tended to happen a round or so sooner, that’s if the attacker was prepared to send one round of builds to their death. The main negitive is that it probably makes the game a bit harder for Russia, So I think I’d tend to give russia some kind of bonus if playing this way.

RE: Paint markers to better define borders?
@vodot- Thanks - - I think if I print a map it’ll be one of the Anniversary Edition or global 40/BBR maps, to me the 1942 map seems an appriopriate size, so I don’t think it’s as worth the printing cost.

RE: Gezocht Axis and Allies spelers
@cornwallis Yeah, I’m Canadian (engelstalig, maar Nederlands is ook geen probleem). and yeah, would be cool to play some global 40 sometime. I’ll send you my contact info.

RE: Gezocht Axis and Allies spelers
@cornwallis Been playing 1942 se online (I’m gold ranked as axis and silver as allies atm, so about average skill I’m guessing), been messing around a bit with different versions on TripleA and tabletop simulator too, but I’m still not quite used to either of those interfaces, but I’d be willing to give it more of a try.
I’m curious about the anniversary edition, global 1940, and Bloodbath. I’ve only played one game of global 1940 (first edition) and that was some time ago.
What platform do you play on?

RE: Gezocht Axis and Allies spelers
I live in Leuven, near brussels. I’ve been playing online a bit lately and that got me missing sitting around a table with beer and humans. I have a friend in Halle that likes to play too.

Paint markers to better define borders?
I like the general look of the 1942 se map but I’m kinda baffled as to why the designers made the borders so difficult to see.
I was wondering if anyone has tried improving the definition of the border lines on the map using something like acrylic paint markers??
Might be necessary to hit it after with some matt varnish to protect it but I can imagine bright white border lines or some other colour would be a big improvement. Even a light gray would probably be clearer to see.
