    Sorry about that. The idea behind the 3 subs (hoping all live) is to tempt the UK to send more than just one unit to clear SZ106. People don’t seem to take that bait though.

    That is what I think has to happen, but the discussions always imply that you can hold it with the existing resources.  I don’t see how that is possible without an IC drop UK1, but these same pundits are also saying you usually need to place your buy in London UK1 and UK2.  The Italian stack in Tobruk is just too big.  This is also one of the reasons I don’t know why so many people are so passionately against the Chinese Infantry stack bid, you get far more bang for your buck placing the bid in Europe.

    Heh the one game I don’t drop a DD in the Atlantic US1, I turn out to need it.  Of course, with the unusual opening of having 3 German subs in Canada, this was also probably the one game I would have in fact needed it.

    Sorry about that. The idea behind the 3 subs (hoping all live) is to tempt the UK to send more than just one unit to clear SZ106. People don’t seem to take that bait though.

    I think the times that ever happens are going to be extremely rare.  Since you can only siphon off 3 IPC of income from there, Subs sitting off Canada need to be dealt with less urgently than Subs sitting off Wales.  Aside from the Welsh Destroyer, any other units you deploy are going to weaken your attack against Italy UK1 so I don’t see many people doing that to save 3 IPC.  In this game there was no way I was going to go after those Subs when I saw I had some chance of saving the last British BB if I was willing to commit everything to doing that.  Of course, now that I did and Italy has been unleashed, the phrase now what comes to mind.
