• I just caught myself griping about my life story to another member of the forum. and then quite by accident I clicked on his profile after agreeing to an on-line duel in the iron blitz. much to my suprise he was quite a bit younger than I had assumed. He is an (obviously) intelligent youth- with whom I would still like to stomp in an on line game- but I suddenly felt very much older. does anyone else on this site remember going to the arcade to play:

    1. pac man - before there was a mrs. pac man
    2. joust, dig doug, or asteriods
    3. or have any Idea who dirk the daring, space ace, or Qbert is/are??
    4. or just playing the pin ball machines because they were fun?

    1. there was a mr. pacman?
      2)nope sorry
    2. i think i heard of Qbert once, it seems vaugely familiar
    3. pinball isn’t bad, but not really fun

  • What is an Atari 2600?

  • i think it’s some type of super-ancient gaming system, from like the 50’s or something

  • oh oh isn’t atari 2600 that gaming system that had pong on it? the game like tennis but with only 2 lines and a ball that bounces back and forth?

  • yup yup yup and yup

Q-bert was the best! I played that all the time. Well that and Burger-Time. Now those were games.

    1. Oh yes!
    2. Yep, all those too.
    3. and those.
    4. and those.

Actually I still own and use an Atari 2600. I am trying to write my own games for it. I’m not alone either. My other web haunt is here: http://www.atariage.com/

BTW: The Atari 2600 actually did not have pong as a game, but one of the the founders of Atari corp did invent Pong which was an arcade game, not a home console game.

    Cheers!

  • This site needs more old foggies… :-?

    1. Yes, those feminazi dastards! :o
    2. Played it, hell I lived it!
    3. Hahahaha, I notice how most of my conversations turn into, “Who’s better: Q*bert or PacMan these days.”
    4. Pin ball machines are hands down, the greatest arcade invention ever! You always get the best bang for your buck!

    Long live Atari!

  • Mrs. Pacman: A great victory for the femminazis :D

  • wait wait, when was there a MR pacman??

  • 1. Defender
    2. Asteroids
    3. Berzerk
    4. Barnstorming
    5. Nightrider

I had dozens of these games in the 70’s. Paved the way for you Nintendo/ Playstation kids as well (I’ve evolved into them)!

This “old foggie” put in his vote…

  • @StrongBad1988:

wait wait, when was there a MR pacman??

No there wasn’t, and no one ever said there was except you. :P

  • WOW! i forgot all about burger time! talk about some memories. and I don’t remember pong (for atari) but I do remember break out and super break out.

    1- space invaders
2- asteriods - on the hard level with the little ship.
    3- missle command
    4- combat- with the tanks-

  • Boy do I remember Atari well. I also loved playing Red Baron, Star Castle, Tempest and Frogger. As for pinball…still my favorite. I have a few machines myself. Gorgar and Black Knight were the ones I played most. Bought Gorgar a few years back…it still talks :D

  • 1. Defender
    2. Asteroids
    3. Berzerk
    4. Barnstorming
    5. Nightrider

Played most of the above and lived on them, but what’s barnstorming? :)

I have all of these as games on my computer, so I still take the time to play them all the time. :)

    Pitfall

  • I loved Blue Max on the C=64, didn’t play that many arcades though (too expensive when you have the C= at home :) )……

    This is barnstorming…

    http://www.atariage.com/software_page.html?SoftwareLabelID=976

It’s okay, but not my favorite type of game.

  • Oh I remember this! (and the helicopter version too!) Too bad the name escaped me…
