For an all or nothing battle, you are naturally allowed to bring all your units that legally can attack. Leaving units behind to cover the retreat is only for other games!
Feel free to reroll the battle with all units present if you like :-P - I will use the same OOL as I did the first time.
haha, i actually enjoy your sense of humor ghost. however, i know very well the conundrum i would be facing if you had won the battle. at best, you would allow me to roll in each round for the missing (but obviously intended for the attack) fighters but with all other dice remaining as they were. Obviously now that the battle has been won by me (against all odds) you would not want to allow me to roll additional dice in the battle that can only make the loss worse for you.
