Can I play one country….........

  • I want to play one country (US, Germany, Great Britain, etc) and try to conquere the world.  Now, of course, what ever side I am on, once they have captured the other capitols, the game ends.  I want to be able to, as a single country, after defeating the enemy, turn on my allies.  This is some thing that has always appealed to me.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

  • If you want to do that, then play Russia verses the US and the UK.  That would reasonably closely approximate the post-war world.

  • Sort of a Risk type scenario then, huh? You could do Eastern Bloc vs. Western Bloc (USSR vs. US, UK) or Nazis vs. Japanese. That would be an interesting matchup. I would bet on US & UK on the first one and the Germans on the second one.

  • My firends and I used to play with global voctory conditions.  So to win as the Allies no Axis territory could remain, or as the Axis no Allies territory could remain.

Then the winning side went melee.  It got kind of interesting lets say for example Russia didn’t want to go take Madiscar from Germany or Japan so they would sit and mass troops waiting for the US / UK / USSR battle.

I always liked the Germany vs. Japan cold war version better.  They always seem to over extend them selves once they made the death blow.  So ther would be a few rounds of preperation to take out the other side.

When AA50 comes out I had better have a long weekend to devote to this if I want to try it.

    I agree.

Nice LT. I used to play by those rules myself, the whole “no man standing” thing. Now what I do is just talk major smack. The last time I played Axis & Allies, I had 10 out of the 12 capitals and and my oppenent decided it was about time to call it a game.

Well I would have LOVED to play that game out so I started talking smack, drawing up this treaty for the US to sign that was just a complete insult.  Yeah, he thought it was funny but we actually got into a negotiation on the treaty for 2 days by phone. Finally when he wanted to play again, I said “The Fuhrer has been more than gracious here.” Sort of mimicking what the German ambassador said in the film “The Battle of Britain.” He surrendered and the world became Nazi.

So now when we play miniatures he talks so much smack it’s hilarious. It’s like he’ll never forgive me for drawing up this mockery treaty just to rub it in.  God we have fun playing together.

  • That sounds like fun. Imagine how long a game like that would take?

  • I guess I should have mentioned that I am playing the older version that plays just like the board game, version 3.1.  I am not sure that what I want to do can be done on this version.  I do not play online, I just play against the computer.  Sorry I wasn’t more specific on my original post.

  • If you use TripleA, you can change the xml files, so that you can change alliances according to your own preferences. This must be done before game starts, so unfortunately this option is not yet ready, would been nice though, and many TripleA players would like to have the option to change alliance after game begins.

  • That would be a cool feature to be able to use.

  • mmm, you guys remind of a time when i wanted to create rules for treaties and alike. i always thought it’d be interesting if you could make and break alliances during the game

  • I would say (if your allies) be U.S. Because they are rich and can attack the axis on either side of the board. U.K. can easily be sandwhiched by Russia, and U.S. Russia can easily be sandwhiched by U.S. and U.K. But U.S. can attack from both ways, so its kind of hard to sandwhich them. So think about that!

  • “The race for quality has no finish line- so technically, it’s more like a death march.”

    That’s hilarious LT!!

  • The U.S.S.R should be your first choice. Asia is your taking. Under the banner redisribuation of wealth your Socialist Army will sweep over the world.

For added enjoyment play the Soviet National Anthem while doing this. Then watch Rocky 4, except the last few minutes.

I got all of these quotes from here:    http://despair.com/

They have a line of “demotivators.”  The creator modeled them after the successories you see in fancy offices.  He says that true motivation comes from within so only companies with a band-aid fix it approach and disposable income use them.  (like large US car companies and banks )
