Will the U.S. and China eventually come into conflict?

  • Deviant, let me quote John Stuart from the daily show.

“Why are we going after people with weapons of mass destruction? Its not like our weapons are weapons of mass happytime. You don’t bomb someone and say ‘do I smell cinnamon?’”

I think I’ll put that quote in my sig…

Your one of those crazy Americans. Ok, lets take Iraq, then Iran, then North Korea, then China, then Russia… its a never ending war. We should focus on things that concern us, and help people. Read my Nuclear Energy post.

don’t forget Israel - also a keeper of a weapon of mass happytime.

  • Deviant:Scripter, judging from Yanny’s post, i think he could use that explanation you offered.

And China, they have mass happy weapons too.

  • @F_alk:

The chinese have more brains than you. Read “the art of war”.

I’ve read “The Art of War.” What’s your point? See what I say in the next paragraph.

Waaaaiiiiiitttt. Back this horse up a minute. Where did I say we should go after every country that possesses nuclear weapons? Go find my post that says that and maybe I’ll agree with you, but until then…don’t put words in my mouth. I’m simply saying that we need to be cautious, and not treat everyone like our friend. There is more going on behind the scenes then what’s readily visible to us citizens.

I least it appears that I have one supporter here. :D

  • One Chinaman writes a book about warefare and the U.S is suppose to be wary?
    Thats dumb.

  • Just cause China made it doesnt mean it is good. Look at the chopstick, took me 2 years to learn how to use the bloody things.

Oh yea Deviant, i got your back man. 8)

  • Treat the Chineese as friends! We can both benefit a lot from each other. China is a moderate communist/capitalist combination, has a stable government, and is on the way to becoming a super power. Yes, that includes Nuclear weapons, deal with it! A lot of countries are nuclear capable.

  • @Yanni:

A lot of countries are nuclear capable.

Actually, there’s only about 8 countries that have nuclear weapons.

  • @Deviant:Scripter:

    that’s a lot!!!
    One is too many!!!

  • Ok, 8 countries. 5 years from now, 12 countries. 10 years from now, 20 countries. 50 years from now… virtually every country.

We either need to stop production of them now, or we have to come to grips with reality.

  • Yea, well, there’s not much we can do about it to prevent countries from getting their hands on the technology. Out of the eight countries that possess nuclear weapons today, almost none of them did so using America’s help.

50 years from now, we’ll be developing bigger and better weapons that make nuclear bombs look like water balloons. It’s all we can do to stay alive.

  • Nuclear weapons are a funny thing. To be quite honest, I dont care if a country has nukes as long as they meet 2 conditions.

    1. We are some what allies with them. Not really close allies like Canada or Australia but not enemies either.

    2. If they are hostile, so long as the weapon can’t reach us again, I dont care.

China, I didn’t give a hill of beans that they had nukes because the missles they used couldn’t reach us. Well, let us all thank former president Bill “Slick Willy” Clinton for the Chinese being able to plunk us now.

Similar to China and Taiwan now. It doesnt really bother me that China WANTS Taiwan because they lack the needed amphib forces. Once they get the number of craft needed, they will still lack the experiance needed to complete the operation. IMHO of course

What was I talking about… oh yes. And like Devient said we will be getting bigger and better toys. I say we roll out the Neutron Bombs. IMHO yet again

    @Deviant:Scripter:

Do I really need to explain the significance of a country that hates us, possessing nuclear weaponry?

So, the emphasis was on “hate” then, right?
Man, the chinese don’t hate you. The soviets or any communists didn’t hate you. The muslim fundamentalists didn’t hate you at first.

You know, there is more than love and hate. Wasn’t it you who spoke of grey tones in another thread?? Why not here?

For the art of war: even if the had hated you, the chinese know that a nuclear war against the USA would be of no benefit for anyone. So, why should they then start it? ….

    Ahm…. no…
    nuclear weapons…
@ Jazz: neutron bombs are nuclear weapons
@ both: fusion bombs (H-bombs) are nuclear bombs.
Agreed, the term nuclear bomb usually is used for fission bombs… but it’s more if you look closely.

Another thing: i doubt that there will be bigger weapons in 50 years, if you have a look at the potential of destruction (to make it look like a “water bomb”).
The only thing that can top a nuclear bomb (fusion, fission) is a matter-antimatter bomb (or, as there will be enough matter around when you drop it, a pure antimatter bomb).
And there are some severe problems in the production of those. One of them: up to today, worldwide, i think mankind has produced about 1 gram of antimatter. … plus the difficulty to store it, especially for a long term.

So, no bigger bombs, (not at all) sorry…

  • A ground war in China !?!?! Can’t think of anything worse than that. Money talks. Trade = money = no war…

  • You are right of course F_alk. I should have been more clear in what i said. Neutron bombs are nuclear weapons, the difference being they are(in theory anyway) only suppose to kill people as appose to leveling an entire city.

Thank you for pointing out my error F_alk, appreciate it.

  • I have to disagree with you to a degree. Russia actually stole the bomb from us. The Chinese stole ICBM technology. We more or less gave Israel its tech. And so on.

Second, I doubt very many more countries will get the bomb anytime soon. Only a few are even trying. And we are trying to stop them.

Third, I doubt we’ll develop more advanced weapons until we get off this rock.

    @Deviant:Scripter:

none of them did so using America’s help.

  • Yanny don’t make me laugh with your 200 million man Chinese army.

The logistic problems make it laughable.

Also, the Chinese need U.S. dolars more than we need their products. An end to trade would hurt them more. Why do you think they have left Taiwan alone?

  • @yourbuttocks:

Third, I doubt we’ll develop more advanced weapons until we get off this rock.

I’m assuming we’ll be off this rock in 50 years. :)

  • Over 55 years ago in WW2, SINGLE MINUTES went by where more than 200,000 bullets were flying through the air. How long could it really take to mow down a Commie army that we could already Daist-cut to smitherines ahead of time?
