Well, maybe the Founding Fathers had something in mind. Personally, I guess I’d rather be alive more than anything else, then free, and being free, having the freedom to attempt to do what makes me happy. (within reason).

perhaps, but it could simply be a coincidence. I mean, it has a nicer ring to it than “the pursuit of happiness, liberty and life” or something else.

Good points, but what if you applied it to abortion as we have applied other parts or added ammendments for blacks, hmm?
