Thanks a lot, but this order form is for US residents only. Does anyone have its European equivalent… somehow hasbro.de does not sell complete sets of playing pieces :(

RE: Name your poison….
Well, tequila is still quite a “dirty” drink, as far as the quality is concerned.
For example, good vodkas- best among the brands you can buy in the western world is stolichnaya- are being filtered multiple times using activated-carbon filters.
In general: there are less suspended particles in one bottle of vodka than in one shotglass of brandy- that’s why you are less likely to get a vodka hangover.

RE: History of War card game
Thread resurrection!
Yea, I played it a few times (in German), and it’s definitely worth a try. Quite intuitive gameplay, and the fact that it has no “trading card” aspect makes it twice as good!

Is there any way to buy extra miniatures?
Hello,
since I’m a complete nut on games with TONS of equipment, I’m thinking of expanding my A&A miniature stockpile.
That’s why I’m having one major problem:
Where do I get the extra miniatures? Is there a way to get “additional” packs of A&A(Revised) miniatures from Avalon Hill or are there any 3rd- party- manufacturers which are having additional miniatures (eventually with 109s instead of Stukas, Panzer IVs instead of Panthers, etc.) for sale?
Thanks for your help,
Yarrick

RE: Name your poison….
@ncscswitch:
Maddog, you know what American beer and sex in a canoe have in common?
They are both f’ing close to water :-P
Amen to that.
You people are a little too yuppie & upscale for me. Give me a case of Busch beer and I’m in heaven!!
Well, I’m “old Europe” by birth and by location, so there’s no “yuppie& upscale” to that.
Just the liquid expression of historical supremacy :D.

Among others.

But if there is any table top game that I would recommend to Axis&Allies: Miniatures gamers, it’ll be Flames of War- or, if you like pulp- Gear Krieg.
I don’t think Warhammer dates back that far
Well, IIRC Warhammer dates back ~ 25 to 30 years now…

RE: King of the WW2 FPS's
Honestly, I’m kind of tired of ALL of the attention going to Normandy all the time. Now I have absolute respect for the men who fought and died at Normandy. That was a better battle than what I was ever in, but that was one landing in a war that had so many. What about the near 7,000 men who died on Iwo Jima? What about bloody Tarawa, or Peleliu, or the D-Day (in scope, not in landing tactics) of the Pacific: Guadalcanal?
Then Medal of Honor: Pacific Assault should satisfy you. Quite a nice game. The Banzai charges are insane, especially when you’re in a sandbag emplacement with your Thompson just blitzing away from left to right… reload… right to left… reload… and so on- AND YOU STILL HIT SOMETHING WITH EVERY FRIGGIN’ BULLET!
@Mistelten:If they every do make a game from the German perspective, it would be nice to see it from the Afrika Korps, since that part has been neglected by game makers (and because Rommel is my favorite general of the era).
Quoted for truth. C’mon, I want to play as a German Wehrmacht soldier, living through battles like Stalingrad, Kursk, Tobruk, the Ardennes, the Battle of the Hedgerows, etc- it’s perfectly politically correct. I’m not asking for a SS- Einsatzgruppen- Simulation, where your objective is to kill 1.500 Jews per hour or so…
-
RE: Campaign game you would most like
Stalingrad, Kursk, Guadalcanal… and a plane-only “Battle of Britain”.
-
RE: A&AP Not To Popular At This Forum?
I don’t like sea battles that much, so I’m quite biased towards A&A:Europe. But I’ve enjoyed my few Pacific games.
Personally, I’d like to see a fully airborne A&A for the Battle of Britain, or a completely tank- oriented for Kursk.
Oh, and the always desired “A&A: Stalingrad”. ;)

RE: Name your poison….
It’s Guinness or Heineken, beer-wise, Tullamore Dew and Stolichnaya spirits- wise. Long Island Ice Tea or the classical Tequila Sunrise are my cocktails of choice. Anything the Gallo Brothers come up when wine is concerned, and the standard Coke if I have to stay sober.

RE: What do your names mean?
Being a Warhammer 40.000 lunativ, it should come as no surprise that I use the name of the Imperium’s most venerated soldier, Commissar Sebastian Yarrick as my WWW handle since the beginning of my web life.

RE: Aircraft carriers
Oh, a german Aircraft Carrier- equipped with two fighters, of course- can change the tide in A&A:Europe quite significantly. In combination with destroyers, you can easily guard the Convoy Routes, intercepting those bold attempts on liberating them with one ship (which occurs quite often with my fellow players), freeing your submarines to raid, pillage, plunder and otherwise pilfer their weasely black (or grey) guts out at the US’s East Coast. “I love the smell of burning fresh- built ships in the morning”, me says ;)
If you can afford a Battleship, use it as the “boogie man”- somehow most players fear to attack a Battleship because of its 2 hit points. Let it roam the seas with your carrier (and bring a destroyer against these pesky subs) and voilá! It’s a far too great threat for shipping lanes to go unchallenged, and challenging it costs IPCs your opponents desperately need to stem your flow of Panther tanks rumbling for Moscow.
Besides, AC simply rock model- wise.

RE: favorite country in A&A Europe
Oh, it’s Germany all over again.
If you act clever, you can pound these Russians into the ground and hoist your flag in Moscow before any of those allied slugs even get in gear :D.
-
RE: What is your favorite country to play?
It’s Germany. Or Japan. Anyway, it’s the Axis.
Is it the “underdog” status? Is it the “all against me” feeling of the axis powers? Is it the fact that that my grandpa and his Tiger opened Shermans in Normandy like I’m opening tuna cans?
Dunno, but playing Axis is definitely more fun for me than playing Allies.
It’s simply more challenging.
