    • RE: Taking Noraway U.S. 4

      How can USA reach England in turn 3 when Japan waited until turn 3?
      (though they can via Gibraltar)

      Also it depends on what germany bought, if they have many transports, for example (not unusual in a real or faked Sea-Lion scheme), Germany can easily kick the US out again, and probably sink their fleet as a bonus.

      I don’t see it happening.

    • RE: Can Russia survive? (Alpha +3)

      @Cmdr:

      I’d be in favor of changing the Russian NOs to something more historic anyway - not that Larry ever agreed with me.

      Russian NO 1:  SZ 125/Arkhangelsk - 5 IPC - Lend Lease
      Russian NO 2:  Leningrad - 5 IPC - retainership of Russias only real European style city, a major port for Russia and Russian pride
      Russian NO 3:  Stalingrad - 5 IPC - maintenance of industrial capacity, Named after leader of Russia (Russian Pride)
      Russian NO 4:  Finland + Norway - 5 IPC (has to be owned by Russia, not an allied nation!) - conquering of historical enemy nations
      Russian NO 5:  Poland + East Poland + Baltic States - 5 IPC (has to be owned by Russia, not an allied nation!) - conquering of historical enemy nations

      game effects?  who’s going to try and tell me that Russia does not need 10 IPC it can count on for the first few rounds of the game just to keep Germany from taking Moscow in the first 5-9 rounds?  I’d say with the changes limit it so that American, British, French and Anzac forces cannot enter any red territory or Russian controlled territory unless Stalingrad OR Leningrad OR Moscow are controlled by the Axis.

      i like these NO’s quite a lot!

      Darn, just when i step back on the forum after a long pause, i arrive in a ghost town? 😛

      By the way, played the game twice (as Allies) and painfully defeated my opponents who are claiming that the game is not balanced. Are they correct?

    • RE: Lance Armstrong…

      @Gargantua:

      Can you blame someone for making his millions, and enjoying life (one he didn’t think he’d get to live)?  No.

      Well, since he took money from other people (by cheating), technically those people can blame him. Of course those other ones could have been cheaters as well, so it gets complicated…

      Personally i am not a fan, the Armstrong years provided for fairly boring Tour De Frances (except for the 2 first ones).

      About the life-changing books…

      I think there was one that had a huge impact on me and that was “Het boek der kampen”, roughly translated as “the book of concentration camps”.

      It was a highly illustrated book (photos, some documents, floor plans, etc) kinda like the Taschen books), and i have read it when i was 14 (for a school project).  It was full of very disturbing photos and anecdotes, and i can tell you that the book went into detail… (also that was, i think, the first time i was really exposed to the whole thing around concentration camps, i didn’t sleep well that week).

      I found out later that, in our library, that book had been removed from the collection. Too controversial perhaps?

    • RE: After first 3 rds (w/pics) *I'm Allies and Bro/Uncle are axis… HELP NEEDED

      It’s too late for it in this game, but as UK i like to take out Tobruk instead of a Taranto (Which feels like suicide to me, esp. with the extra german scrambler). Tobruk can be wiped out and it will cost most of your Suez fleet (CRU to SZ96, might cost the GIB fig as casualty) to Malta and DD to block in SZ99 keeping Cairo relatively safe in turn 1),  the AC can retreat to SZ80 to be joined by ships and air from India (which can strike turn 2), if India also sends 1 TRP and takes Persia, UK has a good set up to take Iraq turn 2 and secure the Middle East and Africa for a while.

      result: (relatively) secured Africa and Mid East
      downside: 1 less fighter to London, italian fleet can survive and join, a weaker Calcutta and less 1 money island

      Also, when germany goes Sealion, it can pay off to buy offensive with Russia instead of retreating and buying infantry.

      Is it Germany’s turn now?

      @MEGAEINSTEIN:

      It says there that combat move is simultaneous with one exceptio that is amphibious assault.

      It should say with two exceptios the other is tank blitzing

      I don’t see why that should also be an exception.
      Amph. assault takes place after sea-battle has taken place. After (or before) what does blitzing happen?
