We have a group of ~8 players that get together once or twice a year at my place to play either A&A-Global, or more recently we play WarRoom. We’re currently on hiatus due to COVID and plan on getting a game or 2 in after the issue settles down. Who knows when. I’ll revisit this thread when we reconvene and need more players.

RE: Tjoek's A&A Anniversary OOB Map file (Updated March 23rd)
Any update on the completed version? I’m waiting for the final version to print it out for play.
If you don’t have time to complete it, can you release any working files (.psd?) you have so I can complete it before I print?
Thanks, awesome work!

RE: Imperious Leader AA50 maps?
@Imperious-Leader said in Imperious Leader AA50 maps?:
P-unit… i can give you the original .ai file if you want, but my version is much better than the one you postede
I would like the original .ai file of the one I posted (AA50 basic version copy.pdf) as I prefer it over the others, even though I like the colors of your newest version. I think you posted the .ai file for this newest version, and if it has layers (havent tested it yet) that is all I’ll need to make my changes. =)

Thanks! Great work!
Any chance you can share the source files for the AA50 maps? I’d like to make changes and it’ll take a LOT of hacking to edit a raw image file instead of a file with layers, assuming your source files contain layers.
The changes I want to make to your AA50 vector map are:
-
No background images, charts, trackers, A&A text
-
Make the map exactly the same map as the original (in the recent AA50 release); meaning no Azores, no Malta, no Corisca, no Sadrina, etc…
-
Some rondel changes

Imperious Leader AA50 maps?
Does anyone have links to Imperious Leader’s AA50 maps? I have one from about 8 years ago that is nice and I was wondering if he has updated it. I’m specifically looking for his vector image map that has simple colorings, and has a filename of:
AA50 basic version copy.pdfHere’s a small screenshot of it:

RE: Axis win condition strategies always the same?
Has anyone tried a sea lion strategy? I dismissed it as impossible but others have suggested it’s doable. I may run through that scenario in a Solo game pretty soon but I was hoping someone has already attempted it.

RE: AA50 Objective Trackers
I haven’t found a version of the objectives tracker that I felt really simplified things. My thought is that each army has a card like the one below to track their objectives. You would have cubes on the bar in each box. You move a cube from the right or top (depending on orientation) and move it to cover the region you have captured. This would have to repeat on other country cards. In this way each player/country tracks its own objectives.
Sized it to be 5" square (to print on boards at TheGameCrafter.com).
I found mixed trackers to be too confusing. And I liked the idea of moving cubes…when enough cubes move to reveal the bonus you see it and can easily collect it.
I also considered combining all 6 like this into one large side board with a region for each country.
I am open to input and thoughts.

I haven’t done the other 3 yet.
Love these. Anyone know if the other 3 were posted?

Axis win condition strategies always the same?
We’ve only played one game so far, and afterwards we analyzed how the game played out, and we are a little concerned that the only way this game can play out is for the Axis to attempt to take Moscow, and if they don’t the Allies just win by either capturing an Axis capital, or more easily, by influencing the board to claim an easy Zombie Apocalypse victory.
I know it’s early, and we may be wrong, but has anyone else had similar observations? We felt the Axis has very little chance (or no chance) of a Sea Lion victory (taking London) and zero chance at taking Washington (USA capital), resulting in going after the obvious 3rd target option, Moscow. I guess it comes down to if Germany has any chance of taking London, because the Axis certainly have zero chance of taking Washington. This is assuming the Allies do not make some catastrophic mistake like leaving the UK empty (or low on land units) while a striking German transport is in range, or some similar mistake that even an average player would never make.
Maybe the game revolves around the fall of Moscow and this IS the entire game and only winning option for Axis, and is how the game is always going to play out? Maybe this isn’t so bad?
We also had some concerns about USSR being able to defend Moscow against the dreaded German SOD (Stack of Doom). This is how our game played out, but the USSR player also didn’t have a lot of zombies backing up their cause, which I believe is a big defensive strategy in this game? Using zombies to help defend USSR?

Excellent find. You can download the entire YouTube playlist, as a video or mp3, with the tool: 4K Video Downloader.

RE: Star Fleet Battles
@SEP:
I played it a LOT from ~1985-1992. and even won their Gold Hat World Championship in 1991. Loved the game, but it’s a beast that is hard to find local people to play. I keep up with their latest release but no longer play.
Very cool! The Gold Hat is quite an achievement, IIRC you won in the RFH?
I did, I’m a Romulon forever!

RE: Should Imperious make a map for this?
Thank Imperious, I will print this map (after I make some minor tweaks for our groups liking).
My group has the same preferences as Black_Elk on map colors, preferring distinctive sharp contrasting colors over “realistic” textured map and colors. Our group also has a color-blind player and this is a big consideration for us.
We also prefer not to have the background images, IPC track, and purchase chart on the map but that’s something I can easily Photoshop away. Imperious, one suggestion for future maps. It would be nice to have pdf layers that users can turn ON/OFF before printing, such as IPC tracks, charts, bg images, text, city icons, etc. That gives options to try to tailor to various likes.
Again, great job, love the map!! :-D

WW1 1914
Finally, armies will fit into the embattled territories. And no more of the god awful oob chips that came with this game.
Whoah cool, that’s the 1914 map Imperious Leader created for me and I updated. Glad it’s getting use, my gaming group LOVES it! I don’t even remember uploading it, where did you get it? I upload so many mods for lots of games I lose track what I uploaded where. :-D

RE: Nation- (and City-) Specific Victory City Markers
@CWO:
I don’t know if this is relevant, but we use two different colored flags for capital city control in Global games
I like your concept of having joint-nation flags (US/USSR and Japan/Germany), which are potentially usable in various ways, so for the fun of it I’ve just made a couple of them using a different design, based on the five major powers of the classic A&A games. One is a US/UK/USSR flag and one is a Germany/Japan flag. I’ve posted them below:
Wow, those are nice. I may upgrade mine to use yours, thanks.
