Strategies
This is a spot you can post your strategies for Axis ans Allies Pacific 1940.
With Japan, a good idea is to try to trick one of the allies (UK or ANZAC) into attacking you first. Then on J2, attack the US and try to have your fleet in such a position so you can destroy the US fleet in one turn. Dont worry about china too much, they cant do much anyway. Throw most of your ground forces against UK (India) and your navy against US and ANZAC.
With the US, build up a navy with 2-4 transports and head straight for Tokyo.
With UK, build infantry and artillery, and maybe a few ships to keep Japan distracted.
Finally, with ANZAC, try to build up defenses of Australia, you dont really have enough of an army to attack Japan with so try to keep yourself alive as long as possible. If anyone has anything to add or suggest I would appreciate it. I am only 15 and realize every strategy has its faults, but this strategy, if played right does work. -
Technologies
I play with the technologies and national advantages. I was wondering, if you have the missile tech, does the aa gun still function like an aa gun or solely a missile launcher. Also, Axis and Allies needs paratroopers. plain and simple. They played a pivotal role in the real thing, why not the game? If anyone knows of any other house rules or optional rules, i would like to hear them.

RE: German Strategy
did these opponents play very defensive? What did they do?
One opponent was a riisk taker, example, I had 7 inf and 3 tanks, he had 4 inf and 4 tanks with one fighter, even though he was outnumbered, he still attacked again and again and so on. Another opponent was very very good at long term strategy, he was thinking 2 or 3 turns ahead! And the other was a mediocre player, not much skill with movements or purchases but good knowing where to attack.

RE: Japan Strategy?
How can Japan focus on the UK fleet? UK doesnt get in the Pacific with much and the US is the main threat to Japan anyway. Why not try to take out the US?

RE: German Strategy
Where would I play Axis and Allies online? could you give me a link? Also, I have succsesfully used this strategy against 3 very different opponents.

Russia
I recently played this game with some friends. I got stuck with Russia and so after about 5 turns, i had captured Germany but Japan had captured Moscow. Thankfully Britain and the US came in and helped out and the allies had an amazing 12th turn victory. But if anyone has a strategy that does not involve losing Moscow, i would appreciate it.

Japan Strategy?
Does anyone have a good strategy for Japan? I have been stuck with Japan and that was a fail. I was doing good in Asia and then all of a sudden the allies had a HUGE army!

German Strategy
I have had this game for a year and a half and I usally prefer to play as Germany. Over the course of several dozen games, i have devolopeda very uniqe strategy; build a battlehip, 2 cruisers, and a destroyer in the baltic to distract the British navy while using subs to tie down their transports. build another transport in the mediteranian to increase the number of troops in Africa while at the same time bombing Britain and launching a massive assult on Russia. build a lot of infantry and artilllery for turns 1 and 2 and then send in the tanks! This strategy has not failed me yet! The allies can not possibly hope to stop such a massive assult going in 3 main directions; Britain, Africa, and Russia. If anyone has a srategy OR a suggestion, I would gladly implement that…. or be prepared for someone to use it against me.

RE: Frist game this Friday/I will be Japan
also a good strategy would be to try to lure one or 2 of the allies into the war without having to attack them. Then you could just wait to attack the US until you are ready to take them out fast.

RE: Allies beating Germany!!??
That is because the allies do not NEED air power to win; it just helps make it a lot easier. Also, having depth is a good strategy, if you can build up a large army 2 or 3 hexes behind the front line, you can counter-attack and destroy the enemy army in one fell swoop. I do see where having depth is important though and I will use it the next time I play.

Allies beating Germany!!??
I havbeen playing Battle of the Bulge a lot recently and in the past 3 games, the allies have won! In one of the games, the germans had 23 VP’s of the 24 needed. The allies massed their forces in verviers and on turn 4, they launched an all out assult on Eupen, and the hexes adjacent to it. It crushed the German advance by flanking them and cutting them off from their supplies! So I have a question, why do the Germans lose just by having one or 2 spots in the line be broken into? I thank anyone who answers this in advance.

RE: Is it worth buying?
Thanks for the input :-D I think I may buy it sometime in the near future.

Is it worth buying?
I have Battle of the Bulge and Spring 1942 and I was going to get Guadalcanal but I was wondering, is it worth buying? Is it hard to understand the rules? I would appreciate answers to these questions. Thanks in advance. :-D

RE: US Factory in Brazil
I agree. With Japan I usually build a IC on the Asian mainland and imediately begin building tanks and a few infantry. It works very effectivly.

RE: Allies Strategy - SZ 5
I think that it is best to focus on landing troops in Norway/Finland. It would divert the German air force from at least a few Russian territorries and if you could bring in some fighters and bombers, you could take out some of the German air force pemanently and maybe even distract the German armies from Russia :-D

RE: Question in general
That makes sense :-D Thanks for the quik reply :-D

RE: My strategies for Spring 1942
Oh…. thanks for clearing that up for me :-D

Question in general
Why is it so hard to play as the allies? They have a huge air force, tons of supply tokens, and twice as many trucks as the axis, soo why is it so hard?
