@RisingSun I had similar experience, I was big into the naval miniatures but couldn’t afford both. I bought a lot on ebay a year or so ago and have played a few games. It is not difficult to learn especially if you are familiar with the navy side, it’s pretty similar but includes facing. I think it’s a great game and wish I had collected it some when it was active.

RE: How is the balance with the new Alpha 2 changes? Please give your view.
As Japan if I were to attack Russia, I’d go through China to get there. Germany should be able to keep the USSR too busy to spend money on several fighters/Tacs to send east if you attack Siberia.
If Japan doesn’t attack the Russians they still will need to defend Manchuria from the stacks of Russian soldiers who start in the area and can attack after turn 4, so you’d still have 30+ IPCs devoted to the area with no gains.

RE: The Pause
I’d have this happen in the revised edition. The armies on the front wouldn’t always have reinforcement lines and the front lines would wreck themselves and neither have the offensive power to risk an attack or enough units to support holding any gains if an attack succeeded. Usually that’d happen if Germany and Japan both went for the USSR and then had to divert to defend themselves from the UK and USA.

RE: Changes still needed to the game, IMHO
I’m just wondering if a 12 point Minor IC in Romania would be worth anything?
I personally wouldn’t make anything there, Germany should be able to capture one of the Russian Minors. I generally prefer to build units than bases.
I liked the 12 IPCs spread around from the previous game.

RE: Battle Report Alpha 2
This sounds like a fun game!
did you think putting the USA all in against Japan was a good starting strategy? I am finishing a game as the allies and I put the first 2 (maybe 3) turns just into the pacific navy and it turned out I didn’t do enough so the USA hadn’t done too much in force, but still have managed to support the British in Africa and liberate France.

RE: ANZAC Strategy
I ended up being able to Capture Japan (ANZAC had no part, it was all USA) when Japan failed on a some risky moves and I was able to counter attack against the island.
I had been flying US fighters in a train from West US to Australia, because the transport supply line had been interrupted early on. ANZAC seems to be too far out of the way to do anything once Japan is more or less secured, the USA or UK would be the ones to actually do the fighting. In my limited experience (3 games), all they have done is sit in a strategic defensive territory for another allied country.
Thanks for the help and input!

RE: ANZAC Strategy
the 27 points is in my game in progress. I think ANZAC went to war turn 2 though. Japan was so close to capturing it.

ANZAC Strategy
What strategies have you been using for the ANZAC forces?
WE are playing our first Global game and I started by making fighters and sending them to mainland Asia, only 3 made it before the Japanese came down and forced me to build a defensive army. thanks to the dice I managed to keep the Capital and after a turn or 2 I was able to recapture the rest of the country. After being repulse Japan moved it’s focus to other areas. the US and UK were able to take control of the south Pacific while Japan is the undisputed controller in the north fighting the USSR and now in North America.
ANZAC has 27 IPCs a turn now (10 in NO, plus 17 in territories) and I’m not sure what to do with them. What is the best thing to do with them?
Thanks!

RE: USA Pacific and Europe
That is an interesting idea, but I think historically the US had a Germany/Europe first attitude.
How would you split the NO?

RE: Operation Barbarossa, What turn?
I’ve only played as the allies in my one game, but my opponent waited for G4 to attack and it has not turned out well. A southern Soviet counter offensive has put the Balkans into allied hands, but the supply line is long and both Italy and Germany are busing back. I think if Italy can get a few tanks and mechs in Syria that they could do a lot of damage in the middle east or southern/eastern Russia.
I think Italy and Germany attacking together would be best for the axis.

RE: Egyptian Lockdown
I like this strategy, I used a various form of it in my current game. it’s our first game of global and I’m the allies. after Germany failed on taking London G3, I’ve been trying to secure Africa. I had attacked on UK1(it was a mistake, I won the battle but my Cruiser and Transport were destroyed in I1). I had a combined ANZAC/UK/FR force, with an American fighter in Egypt (or Alexandria, I don’t remember), Italy still had their navy (which I foolishly left to prosper until it has become a real problem in the Med). I was building the tank/mech inf in South Africa that were on their way to Egypt but Italy still had 2 infantry trying to capture as much of Southern Africa before they got destroyed. I had 2 separate battles of tank/mech on one infantry and lost all 4 of my units while all of his survived.
What’d you do to deal with the Italian infantry and Artillery in Somalia?

RE: 94Canuck's Global 1940 Alpha + 2 Setup Charts and Game Aids
Hi,
These charts are really good, they look very professional. I’ve printed out many of them and put them on stiff cardboard. :-D
I spotted one typo though, on the US card for Sea zone 10, it says “Tac Fighter” instead of bomber.
I’m looking forward to using these in my first global game soon :-)

New Gamer Question on Nation Objectives
Hi,
I’m new to playing A&A Pacific, I mostly play the W@S miniatures, and I have a question about the National Objectives (page 21).
For ANZAC, it states “Gain 5 IPCs if the allies control Dutch New Guinea, New Guinea, New Britain, and the Solomon Islands.”
Would this be 5 IPCs per turn or just once? I think it means just once because of how the Chinese NO is worded, specifically stating every turn, but I’m not sure.
So would the Gain 5 IPCs if you control certain territory NO count every turn of just once?
Thank you in advance,
Artemis
