I love the changes that have been made.
What is the current engine being used to play online games? I would like to look in to taking the game up again.

RE: It's been too long
Thanks for the update - i do keep in touch with df from time-to-time. All is well. I’m watching the series World War II in Color and thought of you guys. Figured i’d check on the site. Lots of expansions yet. It’ll take me a while to catch up!

It's been too long
Just popped in to say hi! DJenson - very impressed to see the ongoing success of your site! Imperious leader (Impy) - congratulations on your mod status. DFish - i need to visit you again, but i may have decent luck getting you to visit me at our place in Mexico.
For those who don’t know - i’m a Winnipegger always in for a game - pretty much any game, so if any 'peggers or other Canucks are wanting to sit down, come find me.
For those who vaguely remember me - i’m a physician, i own a clinic and i teach medicine for a living. I used to be a moderator, and played pretty vociferously, but life got in the way.
much love of the site,
Hope all are well and you enjoy Christmas.

(p.s. if any play CoC - i’m timster at clash confederation) -
RE: 12L AA50-41 Championship (14+games) - DM (Axis) vs. Djensen (Allies +11)
nevermind - just saw the attachement. Thanks for letting me lurk.
also nice seeing you guys again - i figured two powerhouses such as yourselves would have an interesting game. -
RE: 12L AA50-41 Championship (14+games) - DM (Axis) vs. Djensen (Allies +11)
Hey guys, mind if i snoop in on what looks to be an interesting game? Just a couple of things - not sure which variant you are playing, and i would love to look at the maps while you are playing. Slowly easing my way back into the A&A thing and i figured this might be a way.

RE: What´s your favorite movie phrase?…
To get roughly back on topic.
@wittmann:
Nice t-shirt. Do you wear that to work?
I like the quote: I love you.
And cool riposte: I know.Harrison ad libbed that scene and george liked it so much, he kept it.
Unscripted lines are often the best. The only other one that comes to mind at the moment is:
“Next one out of this room gets a… a lead salad!”
1000 points for whoever gets that one.
Fight Club - and there are about a billion other brilliant quotes from that movie. Â The writers must have both been on crack and geniuses.
The quote that comes to mind - “that rug really brought the room together man” - as well as half of the rest of The Big Lebowski.

RE: Ahhh Villainy
I’m leaning towards mandatory conscription for everyone.
I think it’s the best move for a better society. :PÂ Instead of Grade 12, you get Private First Class…
No one can attack you, and going to war is also difficult unless the bulk of people are interested. Justice is handled house to house.
The Switzerland model. ;)
Also the Cuban model. Out of high school - you are either a cop or a solder.

RE: What exactly is bidding?
@wittmann:
I am sure I remembering watching the US’ build up, fearing the loss of all those newly acquired possessions. US seemed so rich compared to the other nations. Now they get overtaken financially quite quickly (1942 2nd Edit most particularly).
You are right though. I can remember US generally buying Battleships, but then no one else could afford them.
Would like to see a map again to remind myself of it:25 years is a long time ago!triple a - download the classic map. note - with triplea you can have a bid.

RE: The Satan VS You Game
- Marie Currie leading the team of the Manhatten project
- Sun Tzu leading the Canadian 3rd infantry (took Juno Beach)
- Nikolai Tesla leading the Kiss army
i think we’re done here.

Remembrance day
I hope this often considered too political…
I would just like to pay my respects to the fallen - those who gave their lives for or freedoms and or nations ( although I am biased,i think it’s good that America is still around too). I also want to acknowledge our veterans living with the scars from their Service (Caps intended). Thank you isn’t enough but I’m afraid it will have to do.

RE: "Skyfall"
All the Bonds had their moments. I actually thought " Remington Steele brought something - panache maybe.
Oh yeah Jennifer -i gave you the down arrow. So cliche. -
RE: Ahhh Villainy
I can’t see why you can’t do options 4 and 5. They are not mutually exclusive and even compliment each other.
Also a lot of people hate us for being Canadian. So much jealousy in the world. -
RE: What exactly is bidding?
In the open days with the original game ( axis and allies vanilla) the allies would win without a bid around 90 percent + of the time. For me to play the axis against a player of my skill equivalent i would want an axis bid of around 8-11 ipcs. Usually this would translate into an extra tank and infantry in Egypt or something. With revised i think I stopped suggesting a bid as the sides were far more even and I just accepted that if I lost it was because my opponent was more skilled. Of course it has been a while and I’m certain someone has found a way to hack one side or the other :-)

RE: I have returned!
thanks all. Sorry to have missed you Gargantua - next time i’m out east i’ll look you up.
Good to see you GG and Imp’y. What are we all playing these days? -
I have returned!
My wife has advised me that I get a hobby because I do nothing other than work and go to the gym. I realize t this site does little for the social skills, but I would like to introduce something fun back into my life. I am looking to connect with Winnipeg or players that live within a 1000 km radius but as the fish from the desert can tell you I am happy to go pretty far for a good game. Note: it has been a while so be gentle.

RE: Survival question
as a former medical student, now a physician as mentioned on another thread, i picked the “witch doctor”.
Both would suck at treating most deathly illnesses - pneumonia, heart attack, pulmonary embolism, malaria, gushing hemorrhage etc. Still, the “local witch doctor” would know what the most common maladies local to the locale might be, and the best treatment for them. The medical student . . . depending on what his/her background was (assuming basic science degree) would likely be useless. Now if you had a local hospital with nursing and medicines, the med student might barely edge out the local guy, i’m thinking. -
RE: Profession
Emergency, family, and rural physician.
I used to do research on polyglycerolphospholipids, and also pharmaceutical sales.
Oh, and i as i enjoy cheese with everything, i too am trying my hand at writing. -
RE: Auto-killing lone trannies
Whew,
I was afraid that this topic was about mowing down those guys wearing dresses and high heels. I mean - they’re worth about 10 points apiece (more if they are aware you are aiming your car at them), but it seemed really politically incorrect.
