Hello, I am CentralCommando, and I am a Axis and Allies fanatic.
My top three A&A games are:
      Europe 1940 2nd Edition (1)
Axis and Allies Revised 2004 (2, don’t judge me.)
Axis and Allies Classic 1982 (3)

I hope this forum has a great future!

@Charles-Fontaine Egypt and Union of South Africa were British Dominions, Tunisia was a French protectorate.

Dang, the map is larger than 8GB and a 91-page rulebook? Holy smokes that’s massive! Thanks for the rulebook.

@vodot Sir, this is brilliant! I always though the Dutch East Indies looked ugly on that map. So with these overlays, not only does it look so much better, there’s more territories for more strategies! Also, this fixes my biggest problem with 50th: Italy. Italy originally only had three territories, and was overall irrelevant to the game as a whole. But here, There’s more territories for them, and a new pair of frontlines with IEA. Australia is improved too, which is a welcome quality-of-life addition.

@vodot Well, I look forward to seeing your solution to those problems. Perhaps you could make a Google Doc/Sheet table where you outline the changes to the setup depending on what division(s) you add? Just a suggestion, as having custom setup images for each combination would be an unnecessary amount of work.

(Also, I hit my daily upvote limit from your posts lol.)

    • RE: Modular G40 Map Overlays: SZ Splits, Cartography fixes, New Victory Cities, and more!

@Titus The image already looks pretty good, but if you want to show the full quality of an image, There’s only a few options that I know of.

You could make a zoomed in shot. If your goal is to simply show a high-quality area on your map instead of the full thing, simply take a screenshot of that zoomed in shot and upload it the way you usually do.

You may be able to divide your file through a sectioner. You can upload your file onto a site such as PineTool or ImageSplitter and then divide your map into different parts. Then, you can download & then upload multiple crops of that image together in one post.

If you want to show the entire map in its high quality though, you’re likely going to need to upload your map through a 3rd-party file uploader. Some options include Zappfiles, Mediafire, and Dropbox. You can then link your exported image in your post.

If there’s a better method out there, please let me know, But these are probably the easiest options.

      Also, good looking map!

    • RE: Altered Axis & Allies Europe

Great looking map! But, here’s some feedback:

This is a problem that is in every mainline a&a europe map has: America has not enough territories. The AMOUNT of America on the map is perfect, but there is only two territories on the mainland. You could divide those into:

      • Washington D.C. (Stays the Same)
      • New England (8 IPCS)
      • Mid-Atlantic (14 IPCS)
      • Great Plains (8 IPCS)
      • Southern States (10 IPCS)
      • West Indies become 2 IPCS

Another thing is that the United Kingdom should have more IPCS than Soviet Union, because unless Soviet Union starts with barely any units at all, it will be pretty unfair for the Axis. (And even then, UK and SU should have about the same)

Next is Italy. I see you gave them Vichy France, and while they were technically a German Puppet state, I’ll allow this. But make sure they have Yugoslavia and Greece, as they did have them at the time.

      Others include:

      • Areas like Aragon are still unnamed and unlabeled
      • Area size is pretty unbalanced, even right next to eachother (Take Upper and Lower Egypt for Example.)
      • At many points, it’s hard to see who owns what (e.g. compare U.S. to Great Britain. You’re probably going to add roundels to help, but still.)
      • Great Britain looks unusable
      • Territory Suggestion: Bermuda/Azores. This would add other routes to North America/Europe.

Good, but flawed map in these areas.

Also, what does the battle board look like for all of these new units, I’m curious?

@vodot If we’re just spitballing changes to the map, perhaps we can finally have French Madagascar aligned to the correct nation - Germany.

Operation Ironclad and Battles of Madagascar only began in the summer of 1942, before this they were part of Vichy France. I am kinda surprised only War Room is the only Larry Harris game to get this correct.

By the way, what you are doing is really impressive! Good work!

    • RE: Anniversary Second Edition

@Faramir Wasn’t French Equatorial Africa controlled by the Free French? Also, I’m not sure how to feel about the new Axis sub-saharan territories not having any units. While they were significantly weaker than their British counterparts, there should still be some combat down there. Here’s some suggestions for these territories (Not playtested yet, so you may want to run a few rounds with these changes and modify them as you go.):

      GERMANY 1941 (36 IPCS):

      • French West Africa: 1 Infantry, Control Marker
      • French Madagascar: 1 Infantry, Control Marker
      • SZ 32: 1 Submarine (Possibly Japanese)

      ITALY 1941 (11 IPCS):

      • Italian East Africa: 1 Artillery or 2 Infantry, Control Marker

      BRITAIN 1941 (40 IPCS):

      • French Equatorial Africa: 2 Infantry
      • Rhodesia: 2 Infantry or 1 Artillery
      • Anglo-Egyptian Sudan: 1 Infantry
      • Belgian Congo: 1 Infantry or 1 Artillery
      • SZ 27: 1 Destroyer, 1 Transport Ship

      GERMANY 1942 (39 IPCS):

      • French West Africa: 1 Infantry or empty, Control Marker
      • French Madagascar: 1 Infantry, Control Marker

      BRITAIN 1942 (29 IPCS):

      • French Equatorial Africa: 2 Infantry or 1 Infantry (Depending on French West Africa’s setup)
      • Italian East Africa: 1 Infantry
      • SZ 32: 1 Destroyer, 1 Transport (carrying 2 Infantry and 1 Artillery, or 3 Infantry

These are just some small suggestions for a more accurate/entertaining Sub-Saharan Africa. Other than this, your rulebook seems very well thought out! I’ll try it out when I get the chance. Good job!

@HansMohr68 Glad I could help, i assume all that’s left is the battle board (I’m still curious how units like marine infantry work.) But, this game looks like it will be fun to play between your sons. (and other people too.)

Also, I’m sure that Pacific will be good too, judging by your skills.

    • RE: Modular G40 Map Overlays: SZ Splits, Cartography fixes, New Victory Cities, and more!

@vodot Wow! I don’t have many suggestions, but here’s the ideas I thought of:

      • Sierra Leone under British Control instead of Neutral
      • Repurpose one IPC from Queensland and give it to New Guinea, highlighting its importance during the Pacific campaign.
      • Represent Borneo as Dutch (perhaps you could split British Sarawak into its own territory.
      • Represent Western Canada as Canadian.
      • Add Sakhalin to Soviet Russia
      • Create a land bridge between Sicily and Southern Italy.
      • Pro Axis Iran
      • Make Mexico a Pro-Allied Neutral.
      • Make Argentina a Pro-Axis Neutral.

G40 is already a really complex game, so not too many more divisions should be made. A lot of your additions sound good though!

    • RE: Anniversary Second Edition

@Faramir Even though I feel there should be some small units in Sub-saharan Africa and Madagascar, I guess I understand not including them to keep it similar to the original. I’ll have to try your rules out when I get the chance to see how it plays.

@The-Captain Sounds interesting! Never really made sense why they dropped Atomic Bombers after Nova. I can understand during the 80s (cold war), but we’re mostly past that now. I’m curious to see your take on this weapon of mass destruction!
