Turn one IPCs

Wittman is right about the importance of taking Paris with Germany.  A couple weeks ago, my group had an interesting development– Germany failed to take Paris due to horrific rolls.  Usually, that would end the game, but the Italian Player ended up taking it, and he went wild with the extra income-- he controlled all the Med and knocked the Allies out of North Africa and was well on the way to South Africa by I5 or I6.  Despite Italy’s success, Germany was never able to get that subtle edge over the Soviets.

Without the income boost, Germany cannot mount a very viable SeaLion, AND the build-up to Barbarossa is too anemic to make the push on Moscow really strong.  It is amazing how vital that 17 IPC boost is for maintaining a good head of steam.

I made a lot of improvements.  The code was adjusted to avoid some looping, and the unit purchase tabulator was included side-by-side with every turn IPC tracker.  The damage tracker was also much improved, I think.  See attached.  Accepting all constructive criticism.

what you do is you buy troops
you do your combat move if you win the territory you raise your ipc amount up as many numbers as the territory says
then at  the end of your turn you look at the National Production Chart and Collect that amount for that country
your countries DO NOT share there money’

Miamibeach, true if you can counter the SZ112 fleet of Germany you don’t go after the Italians I guess.

However if you can’t or Germany does not go Sea Lion this is very good attack and I am not quite sure this attack was foreseen during playtest.

p.s. you talk about 9 inf defending UK, but what about the Canadian troops coming in?

Thanks for the comprehendsive explanation.  As to where I have been in the past 8 months or 8 years for that matter is playing in AA revised in a small pool of players in a small backwaters town in Canada.  I joined this site about 2 months ago and having thought AA Pac,Euro, revised were the ONLY 3 flavours until Spring 42 came out.  It has been a suprise to see all the versions and new concepts (NOs, new techs etc, neutral powers).  It also seems I am beeing schooled on Spring 42 by fleetwood dan much to my chagrin.  I have much to learn!

Blasphemy!

The “can opener” tactic has always been part of AA. The UK opens doors for the US all the time on land or at sea in both theaters. It wasn’t until Italy became a power that it became more prominent (axis vs Russia). Russia gets beefed up a little to compensate, and it has allies to bail them out.

Make_It_Round has a great point about countering week Russian advances w/UK or US air (or ground forces) to force Italy to think twice about attacking in the first place (or at least cost them if they do). If both euro axis want to play in Eastern Europe then you have to get UK/US in there as well. A strong UK/US naval presence heading toward Italy will also turn those Italians around (love to see them waffle).

Another thing would be to close the Black Sea (errata/faq option in AA50). Don’t allow Italy to use its navy to aid in taking key tt. We at times have not totally closed the Black Sea, but axis would need to hold all 4 tt that boarder Turkey in AA50 to enter (we call it political pressure). In AA 40 global you will need to invade Turkey (new straight rule) to gain access to the Black Sea, so this should slow them a bit.

As we add more minor powers there will be more double teaming going on by both sides. UK (India) and Anzac both go before US in global, you only think Russia has problems. You have to be aware and see at least into the next round of play so you can prepare.
