RE: American split income?posted in Axis & Allies Europe 1940
After reading this I like the idea of making the US fight a 2 front war with victory conditions.
How about this: AAP and AAE are played simultaneously, if the Japanese meet the AAP1940 victory requirements in the pacific then the Axis win. If Germany and Italy meet the victory requirements in in AAE1940 then the Axis win. (Likewise for the Allies) That way to prevent an axis win the US will need to keep the axis occupied in both theaters.
I am thinking since both versions of the game are balanced by themselves it should still be balanced when they are combined. No special rules required:)

RE: The new facilitiesposted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
I just got my game today and I was actually impressed with the quality of the “cardboard” pieces. They are laminated with some kind of a matte-textured rubber. I think they did a good job on this!

Escort and Intercept Fighter Clarificationposted in Axis & Allies Spring 1942 Edition
I was playing a game of 1942 the other day and my opponent had a different interpretation of the “attacking and defending fighters” than I had.
From my memory: The attacking fighter hits on a 1 and the defending fighter hits on a 2 for 1 round of combat.
I interpret that as the escorting fighter hits on a 1 and the intercepting fighter hits on a 2.
He interpreted the attacking fighter as the interceptor and the defending fighter the one that defends the strategic bombers.
Can anybody clarify??? Thanks!

Cool. Thanks for the info. If anybody wants to try it out sometime let me know. I play against the computer, but it would be fun to play against a human for a change.

RE: Carriersposted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
I think the Japanese thought they destroyed the enterprise 2 or 3 times during the war, but the US kept repairing it. The Yorktown was repaired in less than a day once in Pearl Harbor so it could fight at Midway.
I think that the carriers did have some fighting capability of their own. According to wikipedia the Essex-class carriers armament was:
4 × twin 5 inch (127 mm) 38 caliber guns
4 × single 5 inch (127 mm) 38 caliber guns
8 × quadruple 40 mm 56 caliber guns
46 × single 20 mm 78 caliber guns; With all that considered I think the new rules are historically accurate if that’s what you like.

Grey :-)
I think some had wood decks. (e.g. Japanese carriers, some cruisers, probably most destroyers and transports, etc.). I’m pretty sure that they were normally always grey though. I think German ships were darker than most. And I think Japanese were a little lighter shade. As far as I know the other countries just had a standard neutral grey that is simular to what the US still uses today.
If you don’t need to be 100% accurate maybe you can do them all grey with a hue of the countries primary color (red for russia, tan for the UK, etc.)

RE: AAA (Axis and Allies Anonymous)posted in Axis & Allies Anniversary Edition
I got:
(1) AA 1942 (playing my first game in 10 years, but I think it will be my roommate’s last one since it has been on our table for about 4 weeks now and I can talk him into about 1 round a week)
I now know where all the copies of the Anniversary edition are:)

Hey FM It sounds like you are already making a molded part, but for future reference have you ever seen this technology?
Stereo lithography:
http://www.3dsystems.com/products/sla/iPro/ipro_8000mp.aspI’m pretty familiar with these machines, and normally its considered an expensive technology, but for small parts like that you would be using so little material it might be cost effective. I’m not aware of any colored resins, but you could paint them.
