Is there a proper place to ask and receive OFFICIAL answers to questions? I have same pending questions in HBG’s Global War 1939 FAQ topic for over two weeks but I have yet to get a response and have no idea if that was the proper place to ask. Can any point me in the right direction? Thanks.

RE: HBG's Global War 1939 FAQ
Any chance that I could get some official answers to my earlier questions? – We would like to resume our game this weekend. Thanks.

RE: HBG's Global War 1939 FAQ
Is this the right topic to ask questions about Global War 1939 v6.1? If not where then should I ask. If it is then how often are the questions OFFICIALLY answered in this topic? (I post some on the 17 Dec but have had no answers.)

RE: HBG's Global War 1939 FAQ
Have these questions been OFFICIALLY addressed:
- When EXACTLY does a player activate a pro axis/allied neutral to his side? During CM, NCM, or both?
Are air units allowed to land in neutrals that are pro your side? (sorry if you already went through this).
2a) Can you fly in air units to defend a pro to your side neutral before you activate it
2b) Can you fly in air units to reinforce a territory the same turn you activated it?
2c) If you NCM an inf w/bomber transport to activate a pro neutral, can the bomber land there too (same question as above really)?- Are players aren’t allowed to move the newly activated units the turn they are activated. If so, does one just swap them out and the activated units are stuck there until the next player turn ?
Thanks

Pripet Over-Flight
While I can understand the rational for land units being excluded from the Pripet Marshes what rational supports restricting flights over the same?

RE: Larger Map
Where exactly is this larger map located? I cannot seem to find it. Thanks.

RE: AAR + AARHE on real map
As for a vector map like this with 1939 borders…I can give you the free base map I used and you can go from there.
I would like to get that if you don’t mind – thanks.

Thanks for the .ai map. I have had no luck in locating a freeware copy (anyone now of an .ai vector map like this with the 1939 borders :-D)
Nice start toward a real-looking map. I look forward to seeing what you come-up with.
In the future, I looking to produce a real-looking worldwide map on the scale of A&AE. Thanks again
Cheers,

RE: AAR + AARHE on real map
I’ve been waiting for months anyone to upload a good .ai file – look forward to seeing yours.
Thanks.

RE: New Axis & Allies Global War Variant (free map)
I must say that I really liked where this project WAS going.
I really want a vector version of this map as they scale-up and print-out very well. I call also edit the map for larger fonts as required.
Is there any hope to get this map in a vector format? Thanks.

RE: AARHE 1939 Edition
“I’ve downloaded heaps of free illustrator world maps.”
Where can i get an Adobe Illustrator (ie vector) map(s) from the 1939-1945 era? Or would you mind uploading them?

Meethos:
Thanks for sending the note to Deepblue.
Any high resolution vector file like Illustrator would the best – JPG just losses too much detail and is difficult to edit.
Thanks,

Sorry, I was looking for the last version this topic: Reply #448 on: May 25, 2007, 11:12:59 am.
I’d like a vector version (AI preferred but I think I can convert it if I get the original file) and not the JPG version (I already have the JPG – it does not scale-up very well).
Thanks,

RE: New Axis & Allies Global War Variant (free map)
If at all possible, I’d still like to get a copy of the full sized file of this map to print out large scale and play on it at Tacticon in Denver over the Labor Day weekend. I’m willing to figure out how to convert the file to AI if required but at least I’d have this next weekend to print it out for use at the gaming convention in two weeks.
Please let me know if this is feasible – thanks.

RE: New Axis & Allies Global War Variant (free map)
Is there any chance of getting a download of the final map? I’d like to print it out and play on it – thanks.
Cheers,
RaiderPS: This map series is by far the best seen to date as for quality, detail and artwork.

RE: New Axis & Allies Global War Variant (free map)
Is overflight of “impassable” zones possible; ie ‘Flying the Hump’ from Burma to China? I would think so. However, if overflight is possible, you should consider splitting them somehow to prevent abuse such as flying: Morocco to Lower Egypt or Singkiang to Burma.

Deepblue:
So how are you adding the SZ to the Baltic?
Numbering SZs. I know this is late but numbering SZs by their major regional Ocean/Sea might work better and helps players locate a given SZ faster. Example use the following abbreviations: NP - North Pacific; SP South Pacific; NA - North Atlantic; SA - South Atlantic; WI - West Indian; EI - East Indian; MS - Mediterranean Sea (region). If you add a Baltic NA-7 then you don’t have to renumber the whole map – just the North Atlantic SZs.
Convoys: I’d number these also for PBEM. Suggest using something like: USA-NAC1 (US North Atlantic Convoy 1) or UK-SAC3 or USSR-NAC or IJ-SPC2.
Airfields in the North Atlantic: I would think that the year-round weather uncertainty of the North Atlantic would also limit effective use of ‘airfields’ in this region.

I understand your position on adding Diego Garcia to SZ63 and the Falklands to SZ39, but I would hope you would reconsider. Either way – thanks anyway.

RE: New Axis & Allies Global War Variant (free map)
Greetings.
I’m new to the site as a poster and have a few comments…
First, a top-notch job with this map, best seen to date. (Would it be possible to get a PDF or Illustrator version at some point?).
1. Recommend reinstating the SZ line between DENMARK and the border NORWAY/SWEDEN. —OR— As an alternative, extend the southern line of SZ-10 to DENMARK and give SZ-10 a vertical eastern border from DENMARK to NORWAY creating a ne SZ west of DENMARK. (Note: For what it’s worth, the Kiel Canal (then the Kaiser-Wilhelm-Kanal) allowed German ships to travel from the Baltic to the North Sea without having to go around Denmark and avoid potentially dangerous storm-prone seas. The Bismarck traveled through the canal during its short career. It might be cool to add that feature – just a thought.)
Rational: Bombers from anywhere in the UK can hit GERMANY and POLAND via the Danish Staits in the Baltic (and vis versa) – never passing over Western European ground positions. This should not be possible – the bombers of that era just didn’t have that kind of range especially navigating to stay over water as presented. (Bombers from Berlin/Warsaw to Edinburgh/Glasgow?)2. Why isn’t Hong Kong a VC? I’d include it before I gave a VC to Okinawa’s Naha.
Raitional: It was a MAJOR port of the Far East during WWII, if not one of the most important.3. Recommend adding the Falkland Islands.
Rational: During World War II, the Falkland Islands served as a Royal Navy station and serviced ships which took part in the Battle of the River Plate.4. Recommend adding the Diego Garcia inside SZ-63 (after all it is as important as Johnston Island is in the Pacific).
Rational: The RAF seaplane outpost was established to partol the Indian Ocean sealanes;Â the island also serviced battle damages ships.
Note: The Corvette HMIS BENGAL, an Australian built minesweeper in the service of the Indian Navy which had been escorting the Royal Dutch tanker ONDINA, arrives at Diego Garcia to repair battle damage after a battle with the Japanese Armed Merchant Cruisers HOKOKU MARU and AIKOKU MARU; the HOKOKU MARU’swas sunk as a result. This victory causes the Imperial Japanese Navy to abandon commerce raiding with surface ships in the Indian Ocean. Thanks for all the work you all are doing – I look forward to the final product.
Cheers,
