      Lol maybe when I have a chance to set it up this week I’ll be able to follow all the acronyms. As it is I have a hard time remembering it all.

      Where do I go to view these games? It’d be interesting to see each turn play out and to try and tweak it.

    • RE: Is Carrier change to capital ship justifiable?

      @Krieghund:

      Battleships suffer no penalty for damage to reflect the fact that they were much more sturdy than carriers.

      They also cost more. 20 is a good chunk of IPCs to pay.

      As far as moving the carriers in sometimes you NEED to move them to the sz of battle so the planes can land. As far as landing and taking off planes need room to land and take off. If the ship is damaged I’d assume the room would be less. Then again that’s just a guess on my part.

      @ZehKaiser:

      Did you build that minor IC in alaska? Is this legal placement? I think you may have edited out the fact you placed it in Alaska, but I think it was in your original post.

      It’s absolutely legal. Minor ICs can be placed on any non island territory with a production rate (dunno if that’s the right term but the mumber in the circle) of 2 or more. Alaska is worth 2 ICPs so it fits.

      @Gharen:

      3.) There are fighter escorts in this game for the strategic bombing and there are also fighter defenders, the defenders can only come from the territory being strategic bombed.  Fighters attack at 1 and defend at 2 for one round of combat.

      You’re right - 1) attacking and defending fighters fire   2) casualties are selected  3) antiaircraft fires  4) casualties are selected  5) strategic bombing occurs

      This is the first A&A game since Europe to use those rules, I believe.

      1942 had optional rules for fighter escort.

      @The:

      I’m not going to go look at my board and calculate odds and replay the whole thing (too lazy and have hw). But I can assure you that this should never happen. If you’re really fighting for you life, fighters suck at defending. Infantry dominate. 10 ipcs. 1 fighter. defense of 4 and 1 life. or 9 ipcs. 3 infantry. Defense of 6 (total) and 3 lives. There is no comparison. If you stretch that out over 50 ipcs, the difference on defense is enormous. This should never be tried against anyone who understands the bare basics of calculations in the game.

      That’s not to say that a single fighter or 2 couldn’t be mixed among a good number of infantry. Granted you need a good number but that occasional 4 defense is nice to have.

      @robbie358:

      New Guinea is an island and it’s split in two.

      In the real world it’s an island. It is not an island in this game - No scramble allowed

      To add to this, the game defines an island as 1 territory surrounded by 1 seazone. The only two oddballs are new zealand whicj the bottom of the board chops ogf, and Japan which can build ICs.

      Anyone Know the email address that I can Use to Get These Tac Bombers/Battlestrip

      I don’t know the e-mail address off hand but the number to reach them is on the back of the instruction manual.

    • RE: National income question

      @Gharen:

      It is usually the best plan to try and spend every possible IPC each turn but it doesn’t always work out that way, so saving a few bucks here and there allows for bigger buys later on!  :-D

      In the games we’ve played my friend was Japan. He had good income including bonuses, and would occasinally not buy anything on a turn he had a big attack plannd. He’d wait to see how said attack played out to decide what he needed to buy. Next turn he’d have double to spend. It worked well. He had enough of a hold on key locations though.

      Though I do question starting Siam under Japanese control….

      I imagine this will change with the Global game as it depends on what happens to France.

      #501

      I read that France and I think Germany start at war. It’s pretty much set for Germany to take France’s capital early. I rhink I read that in one of the stickies by IL about the facts of the 1940 games

      @Belgarath:

      I actually recieved 12 tac bombers and 2 battlestrips. And none were damaged.
      So double thanks from me :-D

      What are you? related or something?

      Bought 2 sets of the game is my guess.

    • RE: Strat bombers vs infantry

      Also note, that there are probably buildings, foxholes, and trenches that the infantry are more than likely in. Most of them aren’t probably gonna be out in a wide open field when defending.

      cool.  tech to upgrade to new units.  any date on aae40 yet?  still ‘summer’ ?

      I read somewhere (on this forum I think) that a guessed date is VE day (victory Europe) which is May 8th. Like I said that was just a guess, but would make perfect sense.

      @Xayd74:

      Now one thing I did want (and I requested this originally) was a pair of Japan and ANZAC setup stickers to overlay onto the incorrect ones. I expect these corrected stickers must exist anyway for the reprint.

      I’d still like more Japanese mech inf and a new rulebook, but that’s picking nits I suppose. Overall, I’m happy.

      I asked about corrected ANZAC and US stickers too but honestly I feel the stuff people on this forum came up with is far superior.

    • RE: Japan declaring war question

      @Krieghund:

      Jim is correct.  An attack by Japan on the UK/ANZAC does not result in an immediate state of war with the US.  It merely gives the US permission to declare war on Japan on its next turn.

      Okay but just to make sure if UK is at war ANZAC is AUTOMATICALLY at war and visa versa right?

      None of my bombers were broken just little white spots where they look like they wanted to bend. My battlestrip had some dents from wings but nothing too serious.

    • RE: 2 quick rules questions

      @The:

      cool, thanks. And I knew that the U.S. technically wouldn’t earn any money with the Western U.S. taken, but I was really referring to the Global game where the Western U.S. wouldn’t be the capital.

      Well there will be a new set of rules for the global game. It’s hard to say the impact that’ll have, though it’s good to get the question out early so them who make the rules will address it correctly.
