    • RE: Ouch first game played

      @TexCapPrezJimmy:

      War wasn’t declared until that late? How did Japan get through the stack of infantry in India? I’m assuming you bought all infantry in India, not aircraft carriers or something silly like that, right?

      Well we played another game today and realized a lot of the problem came down to two things. We didnt know how to use anzac us or uk effectively. And we kept forgetting NOs and lost A LOT of ipcs. That was also only our first game of 1940 and second of aaa total. On todays game allies won. Us fortified hawaii and the phillipines right away. Anzac focused on a navy china defended burma road better and uk played mainly defensive. Japan did good until he left japan mainly unguarded and us swept up.

      Sorry was in a hurry. Japan hit china hard with most of his airforce and allies didnt have time to hit before he got regarrisoned. Nobody declared war (mistake perhaps) mixed with great rolls by japan. J4 war was declared. Us wasnt built up enough. Anzac needs to be aggressive quick but i did badly there. I also cant roll for nothing no matter the game. China got owned fully shortly followed by uk. Anzac (me) tried to backdoor them but i didnt move soon enough to be effective. Us tried to help but the force didnt serm enough even with wartime economy.

      This didn’t bother me much, because I have plenty of Monopoly sets. I took all the 1s through all the 50s out and put them with A&A.

      @valthonis:

      Wait…so you’re saying my Chinese forces shouldn’t be buying strategic bombers?   :?

      :-D

      They can but only if the Burma Road is open… and extended westward to Cairo.

      Lol I’m pretty sure it was a joke. Chinese have 1 Fighter, but otherwise can ONLY buy infantry if Burma Road isn’t open, and they can add Artillary if it’s open. They can’t get any other types of units at all.

    • RE: 4 players?

      I have yet to have a chance to play even though I bought it. I think that I would rather have the China player be UK because the UK player starts with part of Burma Road. Seeing as how Burma Road is so important to China, I think it’d be better to have it in his/her hands.

    • RE: Scramble

      And since there’s a chance to scramble the attacker can commit forces to the SZ even thought there’s no enemy ships right?

      @Piazza2425:

      Wow, that is super cool!  Better than the old way.  Thanks for the clarification

      Wasn’t that how it’s always been? Or is 1942 one of the first games to do that. It’s the first game I bought, and I know that in 1942 you can have 1 infantry + 1 other ground unit of any kind.

    • RE: FAQ follow-up questions on Warships escorting Transports

      On a related note, the answer is probably no but here goes. If 2 warships (say a Destroyer and a Battleship) escort a Transport, can the Battleship and the Transport continue through the SZ with the Sub, then the Destroyer stay and conduct sea combat with the sub? Or since they started together would they have to fight together much like an amphibious assault?

    • RE: Possible new rule book, and/or boxes with correct stuff?

      @MaherC:

      I’m hoping that if enough people complain they won’t make the same mistake w/Europe, or we’re all going to be back here in 4 months crying about Stukas.

      Maybe that’s my stupid faith in humanity and the American worker…

      I agree. While I still hope to continue to keep calling and/or e-mailing, I do hope they at least learn for the next one.

    • RE: FAQ Update

      @Krieghund:

      Neither of these rules has changed.  The US still gets its 40 IPC NO immediately when it’s at war with Japan.  If it declares war at the beginning of the Collect Income phase of turn 3, it gets it on turn 3.  If Japan declares war on turn 2, it gets it on turn 2.  Of course, it may not spend it until the following turn.

      The UK/ANZAC NOs still require “the Allies (not including the Dutch)” to control the territories in question.  Guardianship is not enough.

      Okay pardon my ignorance, but I’ve read a lot about “not including the Dutch”. Will there be a Dutch power in E1940? Or by “Dutch” do you mean while it’s still neutral? I know the rulebook, FAQ and errata mention the neutral territores, and also mention the areas which can be moved in during non combat, and during combat, and what not but I still don’t understand that. I’m having a tough time grasping what happens if the Allies attack certain neutrals (whether those which have power symbols, or in the middle of China which those i’m REALLY confused on) or if Japan attacks the same said territory. If it is in the updated FAQ then I apologize, I’m on my way to read it now. I just wanted to ask before I forgot in case it’s not mentioned.

    • RE: ANZAC NO Question, Part II

      @Richter:

      How About:

      521th Bomber Squadron (AUS) moved forward to Bankok - Now We are bombing them to the Ground!

      In the meantime, buy a fresh crater before they’re all sold out. No two are the same, and they make quite cozy holes in the ground. Lol

    • RE: New to A&A

      @bulldog:

      Can an air unit occupy a territory? :?

      Yeah it’s been said in another thread. Air units cannnot occupy a territory which was just taken over on the current turn, but they may occupy any that have been owned or controlled by a friendly power since the beginning of the turn.

    • RE: ANZAC NO Question, Part II

      @MaherC:

      I declare BS on this.  Yes, I know there is precedent from 50 regarding USSR NO’s and allied units being in Soviet spaces…but I still say BLAH to planes on the carolines getting 5IPCs for ANZAC.

      Why? I know nothing of 50 except for reading through the rules, but why shouldn’t planes count for that. Planes are still units right? If you get technical there are pilots in the planes after all. I don’t imagine that once the pilots land, they stay in the planes anticipating an attack. Therefore they get out of their plane and feet physically touch the ground. RADAR picks up enemies, or some other means of the enemy being spotted, and they get back in their planes. That’s just my 2 cents on why it makes sense to me.

    • RE: Submarine FAQ Question

      @WILD:

      Any way with the new rule, I took it as if you merge war ships and transports from different sz into a sz w/enemy sub your transports would be considered escorted. Even if the sz the sub is in is the final destination for amp assault. These movements are simultaneous, once your ships are in the same sz they are considered one fleet.

      Very true if all movement in any given phase is simultanious it wouldn’t make sense for it to be otherwise. Just like if a Transport, and Battleship, start in SZ1 and move through SZ8 even with a Sub they’d be able to split up, and one go to SZ4 and the other go to SZ7. If it works one way I’d say it works the other too.

    • RE: ANZAC NO Question, Part II

      @MaherC:

      So to be clear.  The US takes the carolines, ANZAC lands a plane there, and they get 5 IPCS?

      Yeah, unless it becomes errata, but otherwise like Krieg said, the rules don’t specify whether plane, or land unit.
