Even though it’s not working too well vs Jen. i say the IC and infantry is the best idea…. what u should also post is “play defensive” or “play offensive” b/c u can buy the same units and use them in a completely different way.

in my opinion…an AC in the baltic is a good ideas…maybe a tranny as well to get troops to norway/karelia from germany.
however, i only suggest sea units if the land war is going well…you should have common sense…if russia is pressing then you should wait to build another tranny…take the 2 inf and save 2. also, the mediteranian oculd use more ships…but i’m not too fond of it…you either have to join the fleet…or make 2 fleets rele because the med can be wiped out when they go for africa. it’s good to get troops to the caucus’ and ukraine viz tranny…plus the BB shot :mrgreen:
i wouldn’t bother getting subs in the baltic…AF will just eat them alive. prolly buy 1AC 1 Des 1 Tranny…then i would have 2 subs 2 Destroyers 2 Tranny 1 AC and 2 Fighters in the baltic…not to bad of a navy there.
thats 36 IPC…possibly purchased by g3.
in the med i would buy 1 tranny, 2 Destroyers 2 subs… but i wouldn’t buy for both baltic and med.
too costly for germany…especially when russia is going all-out against you.

lol DM, god points… when i sed that the sea is almsot as important as land…i meant it for the allies, reason for this is b/c 2 of them arent even in Europe…so if germany has some defense of their coastal waters…then they’re in decent shape…it leaves germany vs Russia.
i also agree that Germany vs Russia is the main battle…those are the 2 cities that go either for the allies or for the axis. theres an outside chance of losing London…even farther is japan…and losing washington? highly unlikly
i agree w/ the fact that no one seazone is important than others. when it comes down to it…i’ll say the sz’s around Europe, b/c Berlin is in Europe.

Wow…cudos to newpintbrush, darthmaximus, jen, and ncscswitch. i’ve only faced a KJF twice…both were horrible attempts…and they failed in terms of killing japan first…b/c th german player was so horrible that it never even happened…(lost on uk4)

smart G1 build is 1AC the rest infantry…everybody knows that infantry are the best pieces. they are cheap, decend defense…and are perfect fodder to protect our more valuable pieces (tanks, fighters, bombers). if your getting anything other then infantry, it’s to replace your lost units. Germany starts with more then enough firepower with their Tanks and Luftwaffe. Russia is forced to make infantry because of their obvious superiority to other units(and cuz russia is dirt cheap). but who said germany couldn’t follow suit? they get 14$ more (4 inf…save 2) so they can put even more units on the ground. so why would anybody want to build 5 tranny’s or anything else ubsurd like that to try and win the game? come on people lol infantry for germany us much smarter…yes germany could use a second tranny in the baltic on g3 or g4 (depending on how it’s oging) but the first thing in the germany player’s mind should be "ok…russia built __ infantry…so i gotta build at LEAST that amount to keep the war on an even playing field. staying toe to toe w/ russia in terms of production of troops to the east is key…remember, axis start off with the strategic advantage…so you still keep it vs russia b/c ur not losing troops that he isn’t losing. inevitably, germany is going to be outnumbered by the allies b/c of britain and the USA…but this is where the key "German strategy"comes into play, their plan when it comes down to it isn’t “how do we win the war?” its more along the lines of “how do we stop USA & Britain from interfering?”
Germany can and will take Russia.but they always lose to the other 2 it realy comes down to how long can u keep the other two out. as history shows, Germany cannot fight a 2 front war…they have to finish each opponent off one at a time.

couldn’t have said it better myself ncscswitch. I think all of the seazones around Europe are important (areas around W EU, Germ, Norway, EEurope are by far the most however). if allies get control of this area….then it’s a race agaisnt the clock. so long as germany has some form of control, the game is undecided. once germany is out of the naval war…they’re fighting for their lives…rather then having the pressure solely on russia.
this game is really about Germany and Japan…there isn’t a KBF or a KAF, there is a KRF…but thats germany’s main goal anyways lol
control of the sea is almost as important as control of the land…sometimes more… Japan needs naval superiority to keep growing in IPC’s…plus they need to hold their islands…Germany just needs to hold their navy as long as possible…the allies need the navy to get troops into Europe…and America needs is in the Pacific to try and stop the japs…
but id still say that sz 5,6,7 are the most important. cuz once the allies are in…it’s over

i think that Japan has to play it’s part as well if germany was to successfully take England…but i agree that overall it’s jsut a scare tactic.
but taking England on G4 does sound reasonable…probably one heck of a german player too lol
i still stick with the 8 INF 1 AC buy for g1…but after reading these i’m starting to consider a 8inf 2 tranny build on g1…all i know is i wanna find a way to effectively get more tranny’s (maybe 1 or 2 more) in the baltic…it moves troops from germany into russia farther…and protects norway much better. i jsut can’t will myself to compromise Europe to the Russians lol
The UK can’t do much else to respond to the sea lion threat then build infantry on the homeland…and hope for american help…they also hope that Russia gets some darn good dice so that they can cruise through europe with minimal problems.

after reading these posts, i think that you can’t go all out on a KJF…firstly, you have to keep pressure on Germany…because letting them go fight w/o american influence is huge…like…friggin huge.
i like the American idea of building a fleet…but japan also has the advantage of space. they have 2 turns to move troops into asia and secure their landings. also…if Britain makes an IC in india that stops japan from getting landlocked. all they need now is infantry…india will make the rest. Japan makes 4 subs…plus they have defense… plus they get the choice as to where and when the battle will take place. i find that to be a crucial decision because they can put their fleet in an area that will either A put the american fleet out of place…giving more time for Japan to shuttle troops to the mainland B set up a counterattack w/ air C best defense for the battle… yes Japan is outdone my american money…but they still run the table in the pacific

if germany builds that many tranny’s….game is OVER. firstly…the Allies will certainly re-take england thanks to american aid…but i highly doubt they could even take it anyways…defense always has the advantage. furtherm ore…the more germany throws at it…the worse continental europe gets for germany. send airforce? go right ahead lol that AA gun will make the Luftwaffe into nothing…in the end…even if germany takes it…they’re finished in Europe. Russia now has secured all her first round territories, America is still untouched, Britain…well…Britain is living in shock. just imagine how good the Russian player must feel though, they have Karelia still, Archangel is untouchable for 2 turns minimum, Ukraine is in their hands (either by R1 or R2) west russia is taken, Belorussia is taken, Eastern is in serious trouble and the balkans is next to go…thats 7 IPC swing in favour of Russia…not to mention whats gonna happen next turn n the turn after. you’ll be looking at Germany holding onto dear life with Southern Europe n Germany…down 13 IPC’s (Eastern taken…Balkans taken) TO THE RUSSIANS!!! that means that russia is up 13 IPC’s (w/o japan’s takeaways).
if germany was to do anything of that sort…they would have to sacrifice the AC for 2 tranny’s…gives you more mobility with troops… and u can move them to Karelia and norways quicktime
Overall…i’d laugh at this Axis strategy…your asking for an Allied beatdown on Germany. If germany manages to hold England for more then 2 turns though…then the tide has turned in a huge way.

true…but it’s just pointless…tranny’s are far better in my opinion. and like mentioned by frood, it shows Germany where your coming from. tranny’s give you some ability to adjust to what you see from germany.
only way it would make sense is if the allies already have complete control of the seas…and is putting some serious pressure on germany…other then that i can’t agree with an IC in norway

long story short….the cost of an IC in norway does not outweigh the benefits…it’s just not a logical move… when you think about it, you build the IC…you can’t use it until next turn…then germany will take it…then you might take it back w/ UK or US…but then ur still not even able to use it just yet…thats 15IPC’s that arent even being used…meanwhile…u could build 1transport 1inf 1 art…thats a loaded tranny… that could be used to invade W Europe…
that would be like japan building an IC on one of it’s islands…just useless. especially since it’s right in the warzone…
german bombers could pound the crap outa it
German infantry + armour + Luftwaffe could re-take it every turn if they truley wanted too…but it would cost them infantry going to russia…
only way an IC would be a good idea would be if the baltic fleet is destroyed…and karelia is in safe allied hands…then it makes more sense since germany can’t re-take it w/o going through karelia…n by then u have 3 tanks + w/e u put there in the first place.
the US has alot of money to throw at the Axis…but i think i speak for everyone when i say that it could be much better spend. a efficient and effective tranny system would be much more to the Allies liking. like mentioned in a previous message, it gives the US the ability to adapt to what Germany is showing. you can go for W Europe… or E europe(only when baltic fleet is destroyed) S Europe or Africa…with an IC in norway, your coming from norway…theres no suprise to it.
IC in norway isn’t as useful as tranny’s

Best Strategy for Germany on G1 is
1AC - 16 icp
8 Inf - 24 icpthis is w/o a bid…even so just save the extra 2 cp’s
this strategy goes with the Soviets taking Belorussia and west Russia.
attack British battleship of Gilbritar, destroyer in Panama…and take Egypt. in E Europe/Russia, take back as many territories as possible. You’ll probably end up having to settle for Belo…don’t overstretch yourselves…make sure that you have adequate forces to take more territory next turn. use airforce to help take out battleship
as the conflict continues, be sure to build 2 more tranny’s
 - 1 for Baltic to move troops into rRussiaand norway
 - 1 for Mediterranean to contest afAfricand get valuable icpkeeping a steady flow of infantry to combat your soviet counterparts is crucial…eventually Britainnd us will attack western Europe so be sure to cocontinuouslyut more and more ininfantn Western Europe.and keep your fighters there as long and often as you can.
i wouldn’t count out getting rockets either…
best idea for future turns would be 10 infantry($30 icp’s) 1tranny($8icp’s) save 4 on g2
on g3 get minimum 10 infantry($30) 1tranny($8) and 1 tank($5) save 1
anything beyond that would seriously depend on what is taking place on the board. but i can’t stress enough how you need to keep a steady supply of infantry. people who play as germany tend to forget about that, and end up getting outnumbered by infantry…only having a select number of tanks and fighers to defend.
keeping as much pressure on Russia while fighting back the brits and yanks from W europe and norway is no easy task…holding w europe is more important then finland…so watch out…also, if they’re going after your new acquisitions in africa…GOOD that means they’re not putting as much pressure on your European holdings.
Germany is playing Defense and holding out until Japan can clean out Asia and help them destroy Russia.
i don’t know if i left anything else out…but i’ll post anything i’ve missed.
