      I wrote something on Sealion tactics, and as I said there, Sealion isn’t worth it. If you’re going for London on G2, then UK will have lots of men in Egypt to crush Libya left over, and that’s always a hard battle for Italy. Plus, you’ve probably been neglecting the East, so a better-prepared Russia can slam into you. Then, there’s the US, which can now strike in either London or France, so you’ve got to protect both.

      @barnee thanks, I was inspired after watching Midway to do them like that, and to differentiate them from fighters for my less observant friends. I liked it so much I did my Stukas and Japanese tacs the same way as well.

      I don’t have a clear answer on the subject FastHeinz, but since no-one else has replied as yet ….

      In general I would rather play F2F games without using any form of app. The focus is on fun and getting on with it, rather than winning no matter how much other players have to await your complex calculations.

      However, there are occasions when a game hinges utterly on a particular huge stack to stack face off. Bryansk vs Moscow being a typical example. At such times it can be that both sides agree that the game will be faster if they each use the same app to rework the odds there every turn.

      On-line or forum games are different. The battle calculator is hard to ignore and your opponent is not twiddling their thumbs awaiting your moves. But then my preferred style is still to get on with it, sometimes to my detriment!

      @CWO:

      @ABWorsham:

      I was sixteen years old; it was the Christmas of 1996. I had been playing Risk and heard stories of a WWII game called Axis and Allies. I found the game at Toys-R-Us. My dad thought I was crazy paying over fifty dollars for a board game, but he did like the picture of Rommel on the front cover.

      I was Germany my first game. Five of us played. I remember attacking capturing all of Africa. My friend’s father gave up saying the game was too long for his taste.

      I wonder what your dad would have thought if he’d known that, a few years in the future, a two-part Global 1940 game costing about three times as much would come on the market, and I wonder what your friend’s dad would have thought if he’d known that this Global 1940 game would take about three times as long to play.

      He would just shake his head in disbelief. Dad is very cheap.

      Your on my hitlist Tyler; if that really is your name.  And I’ll be coming round the mountain looking for you in the league next year.

      Looking forward too it, BC has got nothing on Alberta.

      heh heh except for a whole lot of ocean : )

      Pfft… after half a bottle of Alberta Premium Rye Whisky it all looks like ocean.   :-D

      You guys have nothing on our scenic Ontario smog, vast concrete wilderness, and fresh toxic lakes.

      At least you make Forty Creek Whisky out there.  It must be Friday, as I seem to have whisky on-the-brain.  :-)
