Axis:
Depends on where you’re going to be most aggressive.
Maybe build artillery and troops near Egypt, if not maybe build a fighter or artillery near the Russian front.
Allies:
I usually build 4 soldiers; 2 in Egypt, 2 in Ukraine/Belorussia/etc. -

Yes making the Japanese build naval units to protect their transports is a good idea. It lets India get a break for a turn or two.

I don’t think I would make them switch nationalities. But the idea is nice (overall) … would add a new dimension to the game – that’s for sure!
I think it could work in A&AE too, although Im not sure about Pacific.

A friend and I thought up a way including POWs. Although we think it needs some tweeking.
Capturing land POWs
1. after every battle divide the losers LAND loses by 10, (if 0.5 round up) that is the number of POWs of that country there is from the battle.
2. Every country is assumed to have a POW camp in territories with ICs. Each camp can hold 3 POWs. You MUST supply camps for POWs, so you can buy extra camps (represented by ICs from AAE).
3. Once they are captured place the POWs one of that country’s discs (if multiple place a white disc underneath the country’s disc).
4. Once the units are caught change all tanks and artillery to infantry.
5. You can move enemy POWs over any amount of land to get to a camp, but not over water.
Capturing Air POWs
1. If a bomber (not fighter) is shot down the bomber rolls a die, 1-3 the crew live and become a POW, 4-6 they die.
Escaping
1. You roll the same # of die as soldiers escaping 1-2 they escape! 3-4 they are sent back to the camp, and 5-6 they are shot.
2.POWs can move 2 once they are escaped but CANNOT takeover territory.
3. They remain POWs until they reach friendly territory.
4. They may move through neutrals freely.
5. if they stop in another enemy territory they roll a die 1-3 they stay in enemy territory, 4 they are sent back to the camp, 5-6 they are shot.
6. If they reach friendly territory that is not their own, they turn into a soldier from that country.Any suggestions?

I personally dont like going all out on the Germans. I think Japan gets way too strong, way too fast. In my games as the allies I ALWAYS atleast threaten Japan as UK and/or USA.

Kyrial, you probably have more experince than me at this game but i find this strategy works.
What I do is send the 2 British fighters to Western Canada. Then as America build an Ac plus subs. On the British turn land the fighters on the Ac.
Supposing its 1 hit bbs, then the japs should have 2 bbs, an Ac, and 1, maybe 2 fighters. So that fleet versus the Anglo-American forces of 1 bb, 1 Ac, 2 subs, 2 fighters, and a transport. If Japan was lucky they might be able to beat that fleet!
Next turn Britain flies Fighters to East Canada and America lands more fighters on Ac and builds what it sees necassary.
By crippling Japans economy i didn’t exactly mean that only, hopefully if the Brits play well they might have some of Eastern China.
Even if Germany does slaughter the allies in Africa theyre doomed once Japan has fallen.

I think near the beginning America must purely focus on Japan, build trns, subs, bbs, acs, the lot. eventually going arounds island hopping.
Britain should bomb Germany, fight in Africa, and maybe fight in India.
Russia should send fighters to india to defend it, try to keep the caucauses, and try to stop Japan from advancing too far into Russia.
Once America has crippled Japans economy, they should start bombing Japan and Germany. Once this is done go ahead with Operation Overlord, and takedown Germany. -
France
Does anybody else think D-day might be more exciting, interesting, difficult, etc. If France wa split up into more territories? maybe Western France, Normandy, Picardy, Vichy France, Brittany, Etc. Etc.

I agree with mr ghoul. If Italy is added in, Canada might as well be in the game. Canada has no role in this game when in the real war Canada was a very helpful ally.

I thought it was good, but not good enough, the rave scene with the sex and speech was just annoying. I think there was too much kung fu and not enough guns actually.
the twins were cool as well as the whole chase scene. -

It’s an old game (I think from 1974), it isn’t really like A&A, it’s battles on the western front (Omaha Beach, Battle of the Bulge, etc.).

a cool idea i once played with is start Americas production at 20, and move it up 5 each turn to represent how America’s economy started booming in WW2.

that’s only in pacific and europe versions, and maybe in world at war, but not in the original. i guess you could just change that rule though
