    • RE: Help: Setup for Short Beginner Game?

Play the 1942 version of the setup,  http://smo63.fatcow.com/pdf/G42setup2013424.pdf

It starts the game with most of the countries already at war.

    • RE: USA sea movement while at peace in the pacific

That’s exactly what I thought.  In the TripleA notes there is two sentences in different areas that contradict themselves.  From reading the OOB rules I agree it is that USA cannot END movement.

•UK stacks Alexandria heavily so that Italy cannot take it It1, and retreats into Egypt UK2.

When you do this what do you leave in Egypt?  Just the Anzac infantry?

    • USA sea movement while at peace in the pacific

I was playing TripleA last night and came across a contradiction in the rule notes.  The one rule says USA cannot MOVE through seazones containing axis controlled territories while the other rule says that USA cannot END its movement in such zones.  Which is it? Â

    • RE: Wich setup do you use ?

WildBill - thanks so much for the in depth answer to Mongolian neutrality.  With the G42 rules I must have missed that it does not put Japan and Russia at war with each other at the start of the game.  That then makes perfect sense why the Mongolian rule still applies.

KNP - love your house rules especially the one concerning the Flying Tigers.  Its very similar to one of our house rules.  We did something similar to the following Battleships (IOWA, KING GEORGE V , YAMATO, BISMARK, LITTORIO).  On our painted set we have these 5 battleships enlarged.  If you sink one you get 2 ipcs.  We added them for looks then it became like a prestige thing.  Sea zone 110 became a concern because of the King George as well as sacrificing the German’s Bismark.  We also have the MARAT - Russian Battleship and RICHELIEU French Battleship but they never get used.

Wild Bill - When playing 1942 what happens with Monglia since Russia and Japan are at war? Is Mongolia Neutral?

    • RE: My Germany's Round 1 Set up

I like it!  Its crazy but again this game is based upon dice in the end. If it was a low luck game then I would have to reconsider.

ghr2 - Thanks so much for reminding me about the Mech unit.  Definitely would want to include that.  Sometimes I think my battleships and cruisers are firing rock salt since they seem to miss way too often.

    • RE: The Mediterranean Sea

      (Italy Destroyer & Transport)
      SZ 91: 1 cruiser to attack SZ:96
United Kingdom: 1 strategic bomber to attack SZ:96

      (Italy Transport,  Cruiser & Battleship)
Gibraltar: 1 fighter to  attack SZ:97
Malta: 1 fighter to  attack SZ:97
SZ 98: Destroyer, Cruiser, Aircraft carrier & Tactical bomber to attack SZ:97

      (Italy Ethiopia)
SZ 98: Transport 1 Tank and 1 Infantry from Egypt to SZ:76 - Amphibious Assault Ethiopia
Anglo Egypt Sedan 1 Infantry to Ethiopia.
SZ 39: Destroyer and Cruiser to SZ: 76 for barrage on Ethiopia.

That’s the basic attack I do.  All depends what I have at the time.  Like the Cruiser at SZ: 91.

    • RE: Japan and Industrial Complex

Sorry for the late reply ItIsILeClerc. I can see why you would build a NB.  Still trying to get used to all these new movement increase facilities.  Very clever.

On a side note I enjoyed following the discussion as it moved from Japan to UK/Italy :)

    • RE: Japan and Industrial Complex

One of my nastier moves when things are going well in the pac is to stack up a NG SZ and put down a seabase, this creates all kinds of headaches, but it isnt always viable if USA is coming after u strong in the pac.

Curious… but why the Naval base?

“The East Coast Industries”, that’s awesome ItIsILeClerc.

I guess I should have worded my post to say the strategies I have seen posted did not have Japan building any ICs.  Maybe I’m reading the wrong strategies, hehe.

    • Japan and Industrial Complex

I am curious as to why nobody builds a complex on the coast with Japan.  Korea, French Indo China and Kwangtung are great spots to build one. One complex is cheaper than 2 transports and its permanent.  Obviously there is a risk involved but I would rather buy subs to intercept ships trying to attack my complex than buying transports and having to guard them all the time. Now that transports are no longer infantry of the sea it makes sense to me to avoid relying on them if you can build and protect a complex instead.

    • Love the TripleA program.

So much fun but I need to find better opponents.  Last night I was playing USA and had Russia set to the Moore AI.  Russia built a destroyer in the Baltic Sea (sea Zone 100) on round 2.  It got worse… Later they built on turn 5 a complex in Caucasus and the following turn a Cruiser in the Caspian Sea!  Thought you guys might enjoy this. :)

I built a program in C++ of Axis and Allies for the original version back in 1993 but unfortunately never finished the program. I had the map completed and the pieces but never finished it.  I am very impressed with the latest accomplishments of TripleA.

    • Capturing ally lands.

When you liberate an allied territory that has lost its capital like France I understand you take control of that territory and gain the ICP’s for your country until the original country gains its capital back.  What happens if you move into a land that is French controlled and France has lost their capital. DO you gain control of it as well and the ICPs or is this only if take it back from the axis hence liberate?

These are the rules from the manual

If the original controller’s (the power whose territory
you just liberated) capital is in enemy hands at the end
of the turn in which you would otherwise have liberated
the territory, you capture the territory instead. You adjust
your national production level, and you can use any
industrial complex, air base, and/or naval base there until
the original controller’s capital is liberated. The capturing
player can’t use these newly captured facilities until the
      player’s next turn.
