      Thanks for being patient about my delay; had a busy few weeks at work, but I should be more available now.

      We’ll have to see how this neutral crush of yours works out. I feel pretty sore about losing the eastern German factories to a surprise attack that blitzes through all of Turkey and sacks the Ukraine before Germany can even respond. Adding insult to injury, I can’t even use the Italian air force to can open a German blitz, because those same factories will turn around and immediately serve as an indestructible roadblock to German tanks. Finally, Greece hasn’t had a Black Sea coast since at least the fall of Trebizond in the year 1461, but Larry Harris’s geographic error in the original Global game has been copied over to this map, which means that I can’t attack your British transports in the Black Sea because of your airbase in Athens.

      So, I’m feeling a little overwhelmed by all the ways the rules as written wind up not matching my intuitions about how a ‘real’ war would work. I salute your detailed knowledge of and exploitation of the finer points of this map and of the ruleset, but I think it’s fairly likely that I won’t be able to recover those factories; they look like they’ll probably turn into dead zones that we keep trading, at best. I’m not sure whether I’ll want to keep playing if that happens; I guess I’ll take a look at the map in a couple of turns and see if I feel like surrendering.

      @mikawagunichi Because the US Pacific Fleet is exposed to attack? Maybe. I’m not sure how much good it will do me in the long run; I’ll take heavy casualties knocking it out, and it’s not obvious I’ll be able to grab many islands in the gap left open until it can be replaced.

      I do think a game this long and fussy often gets won by whoever makes the second-to-last big mistake…
