RE: Please Read Before Opening your Anniversary Box 2017!posted in Axis & Allies Anniversary Edition
I must have been one of the lucky ones since they packed my box with the cardboard counters on top of the piece boxes instead of underneath like I have seen in a few YouTube videos. That is all they would have had to do to prevent the damage, but it looks like their quality control during the packaging process wasn’t that good.

RE: The Return of Axis & Allies Anniversary Editionposted in News
These are all the sculpts that are different from the original 2008 version:
Germany: Bomber (wings not as tilted up and not as pointed), Cruiser (pointed stern), Battleship (bigger)
Italy: Artillery (struts now spread), Battleship (bigger)
Japan: Artillery (struts now spread)
Russia: Tank (wider), Bomber (wings now flat instead of tilted), Submarine (wider), Destroyer (1942 version), Cruiser (1942 version), Battleship (1942 version)
UK: Fighter (wings now flat), Submarine (wider), Battleship (bigger)
USA: Tank (bigger), Fighter (P38 Lightning now), Battleship (bigger)From what I can tell they basically used the 1942 spring (version 1) edition units for everything except the Italian Infantry, Tank, and Cruiser.
You can see most of those differences in my video that CWO mentioned (I noticed the German/Italy Bomber, Russian Tank, Russian/UK submarine differences after I recorded the video).
The link that CWO posted in regard to KNP’s “Evolution of Axis & Allies Pieces” is an awesome resource for identifying the differences. Specifically, if you look at page three of that thread (the second picture on the second post) you will see most of the changes I noticed. Hopefully he adds the 2017 Anniversary Edition to his amazing thread.

RE: Amazon is shippingposted in Axis & Allies Anniversary Edition
I pre-ordered mine from Amazon back in August but it still says it is preparing to ship, so it looks like I won’t be getting my copy until next week :(.

RE: AA50 reprint?posted in Axis & Allies Anniversary Edition
I wouldn’t risk it; I would be surprised if it isn’t a limited print run again this time.
You can get a copy from gamenerdz for $70 with free shipping and no tax - save yourself a few bucks anyway.

Nice work grabbing those still pictures CWO Marc; I was trying to stop the video on the Italian pieces but it was moving too quickly :).
I think you are correct with your first explanation though “that the people who made the video mixed the first and second editions together”, unfortunately :(.

RE: The Return of Axis & Allies Anniversary Editionposted in News
Here is a link to a quick video on the setup of what appears to be the new addition:
https://www.facebook.com/geekandsundry/videos/1786877438031375/
This looks encouraging to me as Italy’s Tank, Artillery, and Fighter sculpts appear to be from the Europe 2nd edition (not German molds).
edit: the Italy Artillery piece is definitely not Europe 2nd edition, so now I’m not sure. Oh well, we only have a few more days to find out :)
edit#2: plug your ears, but I think they used Japan’s 1942 second edition sculpts for Italy’s Tank, Fighter, and Artillery :(.

RE: The Return of Axis & Allies Anniversary Editionposted in News
I still haven’t seen any pictures of the re-release yet, so I’m not sure what color the German pieces will be either.
The main article on this site was updated though with some additional info on the sculpts (I’ve added my comments).
Next, we have some information regarding the sculpts for some of the pieces. Because Wizards was unable to reuse some of the original sculpts a few of the sculpts are the same as Axis & Allies 1942 SE. These are listed below:
USA
Fighter is from 1942 - boo, no Hellcat fighters :(
Tank is from 1942 - okayGermany
Battleship is from 1942 - okay
Italy
Tank is from 1942 - okay, but would have been cool to have the original sculpts
Artillery is from 1942 - big upgrade here, the original artillery was pretty bad for Italy!
Fighter is from 1942 - nice upgradeI’m guessing they mean 1940 second edition as 1942 doesn’t have Italy.
USSR (Russia)
Destroyer is from 1942 - nice upgrade
Cruiser is from 1942 - nice upgrade -

RE: IWNGU Hit Or Miss Dice have arrived in stock!posted in Marketplace
I’ve ordered a few sets as well; I would have liked green or blue instead of one of the yellow/orange colors, but they will still be a great addition! :)

RE: Gauging interest in customized Hit/Miss dice (Update: ORDERED!)posted in Marketplace
For the dice, what would be peoples color choices and in what order (1 to 4 hit sides)?
For example;
1 - White
2 - Yellow
3 - Red
4 - Black(based on quotes we’re getting, this is going to happen, we just need to hammer out the details)
I like this choice of colors; maybe green instead of yellow is my only suggestion.

RE: 1940 Global custom map filesposted in Customizations
Great work guys!
Any chance you could do a basic map with the air fields and navy bases or the regular map without the turn marker and battle strip?
