Easy to kick the Russians out of Moscow!

  • @TG:

Where is US and UK during this time? If Germany is able to mount an offensive on Karelia that late into that game - then I would say that SOME of the Allies aren’t doing their job right.

The Americans were pouring troops into Russia via Finland and the British were mounting a retalitory strike against the Germans in Africa, which began to threaten me in Asia as Japan. But I had 3 ICs in Asia by then so I was puring out 8 tanks a turn to threaten Moscow, form Yalut, Indo and India. The Russians just couldnt keep up and eventually fell.

  • I’m still not sure where the Germans would fit into this?

  • Elementary, my dear TG. The Germans were able to take the Caucasus now that the Russians were forced into funneling forces to defend Moscow. Eventually as they stack in Eastern Europe, their odds of success in an attack on Karelia become equal to that of a failure. This is the time for them to take the risk and attack. The Germans will most likely not get another chance because of the British drive through Africa which the Japanese qwill also have to defend against. If the Germans succeed, the Americans will most likely be unable to retake Karelia on one turn which will leave Russia battered and will give either Germany or Japan the opportunity she needs to take Moscow.

  • With the Allies able to put 10-20 inf on Finland/Karelia each turn, I see this hard to believe.

  • TM I saw the events board and saw a game played and the player took karila on his/hers first turn.

  •

  • Rightly said. I would’ve just stacked Karelia first turn.

Japan controlled all of mainland Asia and the entire Pacific including Australia which mad it able to really threaten Moscow. When Germany took Karelia, the Allies were able to counter-attack and retake it, but that really didn’t matter because Japan had Russia right where it wanted it, on the verge of capture.

Yeah, but given the new rules, i wanted to prevent “EASY” capture of territories by paratroopers (and therefore even GREATER loss of income). I’d hoped that, as Wild2000 pointed out, a dead zone would exist such that the allies could “affect” your armor. I’d say 3 inf and 1 arm in exchange for 4 arm isn’t a bad exchange . . . .

  • Yeah, those new rules sure were something…

Usually if I’m lucky enough to have a large enough invasion force for Japan the Germans will usually be in… well ummm… Germany. :) Then it becomes a race between triumph and disaster.
