Socialism V. Capitalism/US Foreign Policy/Arabs-Israelis

  • "and all the nations around approved it…even sharone until like a week and a half before when he backed out… "

which one? As long as it has the right of return, it is not open to discussion. it is unacceptable.

  • A) You have your quote wrong. It really goes like this “If your not a liberal at age 20, you have no heart. If your not a conservative at age 40, you have no mind”.

Don’t know where you got the Marxist from.

    B) The American Media pounces on Yassar Arafat. He is treated as a criminal, though not a terrorist.

    C) Horten, so do you deny the US Media is extremely Right Wing?

However, sharone is not nearly as compromising as arafat has been. week and a half before when he backed out….

It was Arafat who rejected a peace plan that gave the Palestinians their own state with something around 95% of the land siezed by Iserael

    He then launched the Intifada.

Sounds very compromising to me. (sarcastic)

I apologize if I got a word or two wrong, it is almost exactly the same meaning.

People who own stuff aren’t for heavy taxes on/ siezure of it.

What are you talking about? I’m not saying I’m right, but the media is in general on the left.

The media calls the Israelis unreasnoble, and when the Israelis pulled back from Arafat’s compuond, they said he had been liberated, and proceeded to show him visiting a hospital.

Now, who should we be friends with?

The Palestinians, who hate us, cheered at the 9/11 attacks, are affiliated with Al Quaeada, and are ruled by a despotic terrorist leader? I think not.

I never said the Israelis are great, but at least they don’t pray for all americans to die !

  • thats only cuz we haven’t f*cked them over yet…

  • C) Horten, so do you deny the US Media is extremely Right Wing?

no, I would say it is to the left, though nearly not as much as europe.

The local news is the same way!

I agree that America has caused pain in the world, but what did we do to the Palestinians?

  • The US Media tries to be objective in the conflict, but Israeli spokesmen get much more time than Palestinian Spokesmen. Ever see the (said by MSNBC) “Objective” show Allen Keys is making sense? He might as well fly an Israeli flag.

One or two conservatives doesn’t mean that the media, particularily the local, isn’t slanted to the left

How aboutr on fox news? The israeli guy makes a good point with numbers and common sense, and the arab guy doesn’t shut up and keeps going onto a different tangent because they don’t want to interrupt him because it isn’t ery “fair and balanced.” the media turned the palestinians into david of daing and goliath, and they want to justify what the palestinians do to seem balanced. our media is shifting europe’s way. Especially after the Jenin incident.

  • Also, notice how the mediaq baisically ignored all the anti-semitic violence in France? But when the Israelis attacked Jenin, the media went wild.

  • Media sucks. They are always looking for a good story, even if it is a far stretch from the truth. Arafat’s past is put on the back burner of the stove while Osama has the biggest burner in the front to fry. Now Arafat is a good guy, despite all the things he has done. If you want the truth about things, go underground. My favorite site about current events and issues around the world is z-mag. The only thing on tv I watch now are the history channel, discovery, animal planet, discovery health, and TLC. Im sick of being lied to. Knowledge is power, arm yourself.

Unfortunately, underground is often a codeword for the unpopular propaganda. But not always.

  • Never thought of that. So either way you look at it there is no way around being lied to. I guess I should train my eye for the infamous propaganda.

  • Everyone has a bias. Some have less than others. On Znet they have less of a bias, than say NPR. But it still exists.

  • But is the bias something that will exist within any form of media?

  • Yes, because all human beings have at least some sort of mild bias at the very least. However, it varies depending upon the subject. Bias doesn’t display itself on an update about a forest fire ;p
    More like 20/20 (the show)

  • Is there a reasonable definition for Bias or Bia material besides lies?

  • Bias doesn’t neccessarily mean lies; often it is simply an empasis on one side of an issue. I display bias when I argue against abortion.

The problem is when bias stops the media from telling the whole story.

  • I see the light.
