    • RE: !BORNEO!

      Commissar Adam:

Trihero is discussing the options from JAPAN’s point of view - - the 1inf 1arm are Japanese units landing vs. the 2inf that may have survived the UK invasion of Borneo.

Anyway this is certainly a provocative use of the UK southern fleets.  The 4ipcs makes it front-page news that Japan must immediately respond to, and anything he has to divert TPs to will delay his expansion in Asia.  Interesting!

    • RE: Distance on the board.

Yes - - it takes 6 steps to go from Wake to Okinawa to Wake.  A Bmr can do it, which is another reason a Bmr costs more than a Ftr.

Also - - this points to the huge advantage of Carrier-based Ftrs!  A CV-based Ftr in the Wake sz gets to hit Okinawa in just 2 steps (1st step is sz51 to sz58).  The Ftr could make that combat move, then after its 3rd step (from Okinawa back to sz58) land on a CV in any of the 4 surrounding szones: 49, 50, 51, or 60.  Pretty good day’s work for the Ftr.

Rockets would give him a taste!  (but rolling for them might turn out expensive!)

Ftrs do not defend vs. SBR in AARevised!!

    • AARevised Tourney coming up NOW!

Hey fans of A&A Revised (aka A&A 2004) we are getting up an Easy-to-Use, Free, Friendly tournament to start within the next few weeks (today is Armistice/Veterans Day 11-11-05) at WarGamersMemberClub: http://p201.ezboard.com/bwargamersclub

      Everyone WELCOME!

This will be a Mapview, email-based tourney.  Believe me, it’s so easy to use even I can make it work!  (My ID at WGMC is “Caledonia Slim.”)

The Tournament discussion and Sign-Up thread is under “Suggestions and Discussion” here:
      http://p201.ezboard.com/fwargamersclubfrm11.showMessage?topicID=8.topic

For the very easy-to-use gameplay tools, go here you will see “Games Supported”:
      http://p201.ezboard.com/fwargamersclubfrm10
and under that you will see “Axis&Allies Revised”:

      http://p201.ezboard.com/fwargamersclubfrm10.showMessage?topicID=1.topic

This post gives links to the tools you need to play A&ARevised with the Mapview system, very easy to use by email, with an online diceroller.  Also there is a link to the generally accepted rulebook (LHTR1.1 which stands for Larry Harris Tournament Rules 1.1)…the rules are clear, make for good gaming, with plenty of options suggested.

      See you soon!

Kull, you’ve got to go into the Mapview folder on your pc (it’ll probably be in MotCreations folder within Program Files folder) and drop the modules into the “usermods” folder.  The fresh modules should show up when you open a Mapview and select the “New Game” choice from the File menu.

Good luck! - - and hey, we’re looking to get a little tournament started over at WGMC - - check out the “Suggestions and Discussion” thread!!

    • RE: Battleships, AA guns and Opening fire step.

SUBS are different in this way from AAG/BB.  SUBS fire in the opening phase (prior to all other combat units) of EACH round of a combat.  Both defending and attacking subs do this.

The other thing different between Subs and AAG/BB is:  when the Sub scores a hit, the hit unit is removed before firing back UNLESS the enemy has a DD present - - the presence of a Destroyer defeats the first-strike capability, whether Sub is attacking or defending.

Dude, sooner or later he is going to lose at least one of those 15-ipc Bmrs to your AAGuns, right?  You are making sure the AAGuns roll before the Bmrs roll, ey!?

If all else fails, trying rolling for ROCKETS and give him a taste of his own medicine!!

    • RE: Best Position…

      Let’s see:

      1. JAPAN
      2. USA
      3. UK
      4. SOV
      5. GER

4 and 5 are the most hemmed in.  The other 3 are all Naval Powers!!  It’s a watery world.  I might switch 1 and 2, because the North American redoubt is the one nearly unassailable position on the board - - Japan is more vulnerable.  But Japan is much more FUN to play!!
