Thanks.

Right click, “save target as”, and then rename the file as “Temporal.properties”. Next time you start up Triple A, viola!

Posting is working, but I have suddenly become unable to roll any dice. Anybody have any ideas why? I’ve verified the email address, tried it with just one email address, and tried both TripleA and Irony servers. Irony times out and TripleA gives a rather lengthy error:

Contacting dice.tripleawarclub.org
An error has occured!
Possible reasons the error could have happened:
1: An invalid e-mail address
2: Firewall could be blocking TripleA from connecting to the Dice Server
3: The e-mail address does not exist
4: An unknown error, please see the error console and consult the forums for help

I just need to roll a die for another game.
Both Tim and Bill wanted the Rams.
1-3 goes to Tim, 4-6 goes to Bill.
Rolls: 1@6; Total Hits: 11@6: (3)
@Crazy:
:-o
What you are not seeing is the difference of the cost to field 50 tanks or 50 artillary is, and that is 50 IPC more for the tanks. :wink:
Hope that helps.
Uh, nope. No help with the problem.
The price of a unit has no impact on its actual combat ability. That is why I thought the artillery option should work as well and be the better choice - it has the same punch and count for less money.
In playing with the odds and the Frood calculator, I found something that I could not explain. Hopefully someone else can help. (I apologize if this is a duplicate question).
If a space is defended by 100 infantry, there is a dCount of 100 and a dPunch of 200.
If I have two choices of attacking from 50 transports using either artillery or tanks as the main offense, I get an identical aCount of 200 and aPunch of 200.
50 inf + 50 art = 50x2 + 50x2 = 200
50 inf + 50 tanks = 50x1 + 50x3 = 200
However, if I attack with the tanks, I have a 90.6% chance of winning; but if I attack with the artillery my chances drop all the way to 49%!
Is this the nebulous “Skew”? What am I not seeing?
@Craig:
@ncscswitch:
Backward Paint, you want to work DOWN on the Bid, not up.
Caspian Sub likes the “Name that Tune” bidding down.
I and Greg Smorey use bidding up in our tournaments.
Craig
Craig,
Can you share how that works? I’m not getting it.
Craig is indeed correct for Out of Box Rules. NEW FTRs can go on newcarriers and old FTRs can go on new carriers. New FTRs can not go on OLD carriers.
There is a whole board called Player Help. I think rules questions like this are meant to go there.
It may be different in LHTR, but page 15 clearly states that newly minted fighters may be placed on existing carriers in sea zones adjacent to the producing IC. It can not be an ally’s carrier, however; it must be yours. This strikes me as something that wouldn’t have needed “correcting” from the OOB rules, but I’ve only deigned to read that junk once.
edit to fix error.
Here is my noob question: why CV for an aircraft carrier?
The V is not for “vessel”, though that would make intuitive sense. As usual, the right answer doesn’t exactly make sense.
The C is for Carrier and the V is for Fixed Wing Aircraft (as opposed to helicopters). Don’t ask me why, CV’s CVNs, whatever – they’re all just TARGETS to me.  :mrgreen:
I know that a Navy (fixed wing) fighter squadron carries that V as in “VF-19”. Look for that the next time you watch “Top Gun.”
I like that a lot. Sorta like a “regular season” and a “playoffs”.
@ncscswitch:
I have the book written by the Captian of the Archer-Fish that sank Shinano.
GREAT book!
Speaking as an interested reader, what’s the name of the book / author?
