I’d like to see these Russian units (all in maroon)
anti-aircraft (M1939)
special forces
submarine (Srednyaya)
destroyer (Gnevny or Soobrazitelny)
cruiser (Chapayev or Kirov)
battleship (Sovetsky)
carrier (Kostromitinova)
sea transport
jet fighter (MiG-9)

RE: USSR supplement set
Personally, I’d like to see a USSR Supplement set (ie, not Early War), allowing a basic ground and naval soviet set in maroon (or red, just not brown). I’d much rather see that than yet more Japanese carriers and British bombers.

RE: HBG - Axis & Allies Parts/Accessories and Custom Piece Sets Store!
I don’t understand the decision to go away from an already-established special forces pose. The US, German, and Japanese units are standing static and helmeted. In contrast, the UK unit is starting forward, with a beret, and visually has more in common with the early war German/Axis infantry

RE: New Global War Expansion Sets need voting on.
While I didn’t vote for the Zombie Apocalypse add-on, because it is not what I want from this game, I do think someone can (will) make money by producing a fun game on this subject. I don’t think A&A rules are the right way to do it, however.

RE: Churrca Destroyer in the proposed French set
It was a Spanish make.
I suggest the Hardi Class.

RE: HBG - Axis & Allies Parts/Accessories and Custom Piece Sets Store!
I hope with the Japanese set and HBG’s new production methods, that there will be more consistency with the shape and size of infantry pieces.
HBG has produced some excellent infantry pieces (the Early War German and the US Airborne, as examples), but some other pieces have been less excellent (the very skinny German Fallschirmjäger and the hefty US Marine), or even unusable from my perspective (the gigantic Early War Russian).
However, I really appreciate the consistency HBG has applied to the poses (paratroopers/special forces, for example), and applaud its continuance with the SNLF unit.
I’d like to chime in with the suggestion that HBG add two more infantry poses:
- Kneeling with caps or slouch hats (no helmet) for Irregular/Guerilla units - like the Fortress America partisan unit.
- Brandishing pistols for Commander or Police units - like FMG’s Italian commander unit.
Glad you offer your products - look forward to future purchases!

RE: HBG WW1 Set
You really think this is complicated?
1. There is “OOB blue”, which replicates the AAGlobal color for French pieces.
2. There is HBG’s own “light blue”, which offers another shade of blue.
Despite whatever you perceive on your computer screen, those two shades are distinctive enough to use both on a gameboard and NEVER confuse them. I think the typical plan is to use one shade for Vichy troops, one for Free French.3. The AA14 shade of blue is somewhat darker than AAGlobal. Obvious at a glance, but not enough that you could put both shades on a gameboard and call them different armies. Not unlike like difference between AAGlobalv1 Italian and Russian pieces. Even among my AA14 French set, the cruisers are notably lighter than the rest of the pieces, though still not the same shade as AAGlobal French.

It doesn’t look like a mummy. Looks fine.

RE: Things I want to buy from HBG
Russia (in maroon) and especially France need help.

RE: Things I want to buy from HBG
A lot of the Japanese pieces I’d like to see are forthcoming, but not all.

Things I want to buy from HBG
My wife can only complain so much about my spending habits, because I’m not boozing it up, and unlike her I don’t pay someone to paint my toenails.
That’s preamble to the following public declaration of how I’d like to spend more money.
See - I’m keen for HBG to produce the pieces I need to complete my A&A set. The sooner the better, please. And to help HBG, I’m posting a visual survey of what I’m missing. Some may prefer escort carriers and three sizes of tanks. Not me. I just want consistency (of size, pose, and color), and to fill out the sets:
US and Germany are nearly complete for me, but not quite.

RE: HBG - Axis & Allies Parts/Accessories and Custom Piece Sets Store!
HBG German Tigers and 251s are up on the site now for individual sale. Black and Dark Grey.
Need to purchase more aircraft, please, to bolster the war effort.

RE: HBG's Japanese Sets
This is great news. Really look forward to them.
Is the SNLF going to be in the paratrooper pose you established with the USA and German units? Or a more traditional “marine” pose?
I personally would prefer the upright paratrooper pose, as I intend to use that for all elite forces, and this pose distinguishes nicely from the OOB lean-forward infantry poses.
Also, if you find a way to include a cap-wearing irregular in a kneeling pose… that would be extra-excellent.

RE: "Diplomatic Actions": For example, paying for a Coup to flip a territory.
I’ve been working on a system where you accrue influence to purchase factional units. The goal is to actually fight with proxy regulars and irregulars without having to engage in frontal conflict with other major powers.
The fun in this would be that you actually get to play the coup, via fighting with your proxy units, or by acquiring enough influence to stage a non-military coup.

RE: That other WW1 game
Okay, here I am to talk about the other games I haven’t played that I think will probably be much better than the game I also haven’t played, but that you would like to discuss.
No, just kidding.
I’m really curious to see the infantry sculpts. A bit disappointed that WOTC can’t seem to settle on a reasonable and static color scheme for its player-pieces, but I do like that the Turks are turquoise.

RE: That other WW1 game
Thank you for starting this new thread.
I’d like to go ahead and now turn your thread into another discussion about the elaborate house rules that will definitely need to be put into the game that I haven’t yet played.
And then I’m going to segue into talking about other, competing WWI games.

RE: Unit Lineup speculation/wish list
The figure dying technique is described on the Strelets forum:

Scroll down to “How to change plastic colour without paint”.
Haven’t tried it yet, but definitely sounds worth a go.
Thanks! Gonna experiment first with my FMG Italians. If that doesn’t work, I’ll try a few light-colored HBG units.

RE: Unit Lineup speculation/wish list
However I’m intending to experiment with dying my units with RIT, so I can have whatever colours I like.
This idea is interesting. Rit Dye says polyethylene and polycarbonate plastics won’t dye, but nylon-based plastics can. I had assumed plastic miniatures were polyethylene, but am I wrong?

RE: Gold mine for new pieces.
On speculation as to rules, there is also this thread: http://www.axisandallies.org/forums/index.php?topic=29102.0
Regarding whether a 1914 game will be a boon for sculpts that integrate with current WW2 era games, I am doubtful. Consider that there is to be no color conformity with other WOTC products (Germany is grey again, and what shade of grey we do not know). And consider that even within WOTC products there is no conformity among sculpts (acromegalic ANZACS), nor thoughtfulness of color selection (chestnut Soviets alongside brown Italians).
