      Maybe he was thinking of the HMS Courageous which was sunk by a sub early on in the war. The Ark was fired at, but the torpedos missed and hit some other ships IIRC. It was sunk a year later though! :D

      My Guess is a Yorktown or Indomitable… but I’m no expert! :lol:

      Nah… it’s an April Fool’s joke… :roll:

      But seriously, it looks awesome, and I like the map better than the Spring-1942, though some other parts look a bit worse! :D

      Thank’s DJenson!

      @boboshonda:

      Is there a reason the US starts at 15 IPC’s on the board but has 17 IPC’s worth of territories?  Or it an error on the board?

      I think it’s just a printing error. Probably they start with 17, or there’s a rule that they lose 2 IPC’s the first few turns till the economy catches up! :D

      @Deaths:

      @empireman:

      Fighters dont even DENT Battleships :-D, but they can do little damage to carriers. :mrgreen:

      well technically ur wrong. Most battleships u are right but the Kongo class could be hurt by a straffeing fighter. Its armour is 6 and some allied fighters have 3 gunnery die. so if a straffeing fighter rolls 3 6’s, it could damage a BB

      Some would say that the Kongo is a Battlecruiser… like the Hood, Moltke, &c. But you could also say that the Corsairs 5 dice Strafe, or Beaufighter’s strafe + Spotting could yield enough hits to damage even some of the best BB’s! :D

      I prefer to use my own custom maps, mostly around 3x2 WotC maps. But I have played on a 5x4…

    • RE: Axis & Allies 1942 2nd Edition Announced!

      All I’m saying is that someone in Sales and Distribution could have got mixed up and put out info that they were releasing the 1941, and then realized the mistake, pulled the PDF down, and a few weeks later put up the right one… I’m not saying i’m right, but I could have happened! :D

      (But wait! It was released exactly 20 days after April 1st! It’s just a joke!) :roll:

      How do we know that A&A 1941 wasn’t just a mixup, and they meant for this to be released?

    • RE: Unit reviews

      Sorry, he’s a researcher on the Forumini who writes really good analysis’s and reviews. Has written a few really good WAS and AAAF posts. I know his reviews have helped my playing! :D

      Example:
      http://aaminis.myfastforum.org/about32584.html

      I’m just saying that if I did write anything, it would be based on his posts often… cause he’s right! :D

      I agree for most except I’d think that the ChiHa would be more likely to show up than the Frank… but the rest I could live with! :D

      I think the Germans might also get a Electraboot or something as the 16th sculpt. @2cents! :D

    • RE: Favorite SA combinations?

      Ober, I think that the rules are that whoever wins Init must go last… bit you can houserule the AAM way! :D

      The USN has the best Init, best Guns, best Ariborne bombs, 2nd best airborne torps, and best Smoke Fleet! :shock:

      Init to +10:
      Flag 2
      Flotilla leader 3
      Carrier Leader 3
      Destroyer Leader 1
      Cruiser Leader 1
      (Uses Dutch I think)

      Guns:
      Goteland+Arizona/WV+Montana

      Bombs:
      HDiver+Goteland+EB2+Catalina+damaged ship

      Torps:
      Avenger+Catalina+ET1+BB target (The best is the new Jill attacking a Carrier with Chikuma etc.)

      And they have tons of Smoking DD’s and cruisers with BWFighter… with the Cheap Warhawk air cover… they aren’t bad! :D

      And of course, the Germans sub fleets are killer… KoD! :D

    • RE: Why is Foruminis so much more popular than here?

      @Deaths:

      well may i make the suggestion that you 2 guys make a map repository thread, one for land and 1 for Sea, and if you have any for the Air game, that would be cool as well

      I have made two thread elsewhere for AAM, and I have a few homemade maps for AAAF, and WAS ones as well.
      Here’s an example of an AAM Carto Thread:
      http://axisandalliesunderground.com/viewtopic.php?f=39&t=658

      I could do one with some WAS maps, and the few AAAF maps that have been made, but there are some problems.
      My photobuckets account gets nearly maxed out every month just having two Carto threads, so adding a 3rd might make it overload and make the maps not visible… which would not be good! Next year I plan to get a “pro” account… but for now, it has a limit! :D
      Another thing is that I can’t seem to do [spoilers] on this forum, so without them the post will be REALLY long! :D
      And lastly, due to time constraints, I might not be able to have an “upkeep edit” on all three threads. Still, If I can figure out a way to get around the first two, I’d love to! (I think I’m gonna make a separate account this Summer and add all the pics from there, to get my account back!) :D

      Also, if anyone needs a map of any kind, PM and I’ll see what I can do!

      Does anyone have any “REAL” info on the game? Since the last PDF? And having nothing to do with someones age? :roll:

    • RE: Heavy Shore Battery

      Good idea, but watch for ships like Blucher, Krasne Kreme, and Konigsburg who, though Cruisers, have landing stats. ;) They can ruin your day! :D
      Aslo, it’s weak AA 5 is asking for even a Vindicator to take it out, so always have a few cheap fighters flying patrol… it’s worth it! :D

    • RE: Heavy Shore Battery

      I would think that if you only had one, you’d leave it in the middle, and the first person to grab it gets it, but must use it! :D

      I find it nice, since it’s a cheap BB that can’t move, but often it’s better to fill out your fleet with a few subs/planes/DD’s and leave it out. A matter of preference really, but I’ve put it to good use! :D

    • RE: Any new changes people wanna make from Spring 1942?

      Being a 1.5-2 hour game keeps it pretty small…

      More countries (not likely, but would be nice!), more unit types, more Victory City’s but easier to get them(making it shorter).

      More possible strategies… in the 1942, the first 2 turns were always almost the same… :(
      Lastly, if there were neutrals, it would be cool, and a few convoy zones would be nice.
      Just a few ideas, which I doubt will be used since it would make the game longer not shorter! :lol:
